Greater Croftpark Rose produced a remarkable second-half comeback to rescue a dramatic 3-3 draw against Kings Park United in an unforgettable Championship clash at Firhill.

The opening 30 minutes were fiercely contested, but it was Kings Park United who looked the sharper side, dominating possession and continually applying pressure to the GCR defence.

The visitors felt they should have had the chance to open the scoring from the penalty spot when one of their attackers collided with a GCR defender inside the box, but the referee was unmoved and waved away strong appeals.

Kings Park refused to let that decision disrupt their momentum and soon found the breakthrough.

GCR surrendered possession cheaply from their own throw-in, allowing the away side to break forward at speed before finishing clinically to take a deserved lead. 1-0 Kings Park !!!!

Just minutes later, Kings Park doubled their advantage. Excellent work down the flank created space for a dangerous cross to the back post, where their attacker was on hand to fire home from close range. 2-0 Kings Park !!!!

GCR were struggling to gain any foothold in the match, while Kings Park continued to dominate and pile pressure on the home side.

Before the break, the visitors added a stunning third. A cutback from the byline found a Kings Park player lurking on the edge of the area, and he unleashed a sensational strike from outside the box that flew into the net, leaving Patterson with no chance. 3-0 Kings Park !!!!

The second half initially followed a similar pattern, but Patterson produced a stunning one-on-one save to deny Kings Park a fourth and keep GCR’s slim hopes alive.

That stop proved crucial.

A long ball from Mitchell then sparked GCR into life, creating their first real opening of the game. Purdy raced through on goal and attempted an audacious chip, only to see his effort clip the bar.

Kings Park continued to threaten, but Patterson was once again called into action, producing another vital save to keep the scoreline intact.

Gradually, GCR began to grow into the contest, showing far more fight, energy and competitiveness than they had in the opening period.

Their reward came when McCoo chased down what looked like a lost cause, dispossessed the defender with determination, and calmly slotted home to make it 3-1 !!!!!

With five minutes remaining, the comeback gathered real momentum. Sustained pressure and neat build-up play inside the box created an opening for Big Mo, who kept his composure to place a superb finish beyond the goalkeeper. 3-2 !!!!

Then, just before injury time, The GCR sidelines erupted in the hallowed grounds of Firhill Complex.

A short goal kick was seized upon by GCR, who won possession high up the pitch before delivering a pinpoint cross to the back post, where the half time sub applied a composed finish to complete an astonishing turnaround. 3-3 !!!!!!

Kings Park were shell-shocked, having seen a commanding three-goal lead disappear, but they still pushed forward in search of a winner. GCR, however, stood firm in a frantic closing spell that saw chances at both ends in a breathless, basketball-like finale.

Neither side could find the decisive goal, and the referee’s whistle finally brought an end to a truly extraordinary encounter.
