Steff felt the momentum of the final began to turn shortly before half-time as Steins gradually started taking control.

“The first half was very competitive, but as we approached half time we could see signs that Castlemilk were starting to tire.”

“Once we got our third goal, you could really feel the momentum shift in our favour, and from that point on we grew in confidence and control.”

The Steins manager believes Friday night reflected the mentality and standards the squad has built throughout the season.

“Yes, definitely. Friday night felt like a real reflection of how far the group has come.”

“Even when we went behind, there was no panic just belief in what we do and trust in each other.”

“The standards we’ve set this season showed in how we responded, stayed composed, and ultimately took control of the game.”

“It was a great example of the mentality and progress within the squad.”

Last season’s final disappointment remained in the background throughout the build-up, but Steff felt the players used that experience positively this time around.

“It was really satisfying.”

“We spoke about last season’s disappointment and used it as motivation, and I thought the players showed exactly the right response.”

“They handled the occasion well, stayed focused, and showed a real determination to put things right.”

“To see them deliver like that in a final says a lot about their character and how much they’ve grown.”

Steff was particularly pleased with how Steins controlled the game after the break while still acknowledging Castlemilk’s attitude throughout the final.

“Yes, I was really pleased with how we managed the second half.”

“It was similar to our other games in this cup run where we showed we can control and dominate matches.”

“Our use of the ball improved, we moved it with real confidence, and that allowed us to take control of the game.”

“I also have to give credit to Ryan and Castlemilk as they kept going and tried to make things happen right to the end, which shows their character.”

For Steff, lifting the trophy represented the progress of both the long-serving core of the squad and newer additions who have strengthened the group this season.

“I think it says a lot about how far we’ve come as a club.”

“You’ve got lads who’ve been here from the early days alongside newer additions like Lee Allen and Aiden, and there’s a real togetherness in the group.”

“Everyone has bought into the standards and what we’re trying to build.”

“Lifting the trophy is a reward for that hard work and commitment, and it shows we’re moving in the right direction with a strong, united squad.”

“Hopefully this is just the first of many in Sunday football as the Steins Thistle set up is a very successful club!”

One of the clearest themes from Steff Dunlop’s answers was calmness. Even after going behind twice early on, Steins never seemed to lose belief in the way they wanted to play or the standards they had built across the season.

Steins Thistle Sunday’s might end up being remembered more for the response that came after going behind twice — and the second-half control that followed it.
