PSP v Glasgow Island

GCFA Premiership

A game involving two teams vying for the league title.

The game started with both teams feeling each other out. An early corner on four minutes for Island saw a good delivery into the box, met well but over the bar. Seven minutes in, PSP won a corner of their own, but it came to nothing.

On 12 minutes, PSP were awarded a free kick on the right side of the box. A good delivery from Dec was met by Chrissie, but his effort went wide of the target. The game continued to swing from end to end, with few clear chances created.

PSP won another free kick on the right on 26 minutes, again without reward. Both teams continued to press, and on 38 minutes a cross from wide was misjudged by Johnny, but the Island attacker pushed the ball wide when it looked like the deadlock might be broken.

The second half opened with PSP on the attack. An early corner on the left looked to have been cleared by the Island defence, but Chrissie stepped up with a first-time volley from 20 yards that whistled into the top of the net to open the scoring. 1–0 PSP.

Island responded with a free kick on the right on 52 minutes that went wide, followed by a spell of pressure including corners on 56 and 65 minutes, but nothing came of them. Another attack down the right on 57 minutes also ended with the effort drifting wide.

On 71 minutes, Island finally drew level. Another attack down the right saw Johnny appear to have the cross covered, but he misjudged it and the ball broke kindly for an easy conversion to make it 1–1.

PSP continued to look for a response. On 80 minutes, good work down the left from Chrissie found Sammy, but his effort went over the bar.
