Four seasons in and the Squad of the Week has grown arms, legs, and opinions. Hugh’s job is simple: ignore the chat, look at the shifts that mattered, and reward the boys who stood up when the conditions weren’t doing anyone favours.

💥 HUGH DUNNIT’S TEAM OF THE WEEK — 5-4-1 (STORMPROOF XI)

Built on impact, honesty, and handling the conditions better than the rest.

Some weeks are about patterns and possession. This wasn’t one of them. The conditions shaped everything — first contacts, clearances, runs, even decision-making. The lads who stood out are the ones who stuck to their jobs and didn’t blink when the game asked harder questions.

Here’s the XI Hugh calls the standard-setters.

THE FULL TEAM ⬇️

🧤 Goalkeeper

This week’s goalkeeper spot goes to the one who handled the conditions, kept his side in it, and did the basics properly when it mattered.

GK — Jamie Lammie (Netherton AFC)
Big moments at the right time. Kept his side alive when they were under pressure and handled the conditions with real authority. A strong, settled display.

🛡️ The Back Five

This week’s defence is built from five players who dealt with the conditions, won their duels, and stayed switched on from first whistle to last.

RWB — Mark Jardine (Clydebank SMFC)

Three assists tells its own story. Got forward, delivered end product, and still did his work the other way. Big output from wide in the conditions.

RCB — Isaac Frain (Banknock FC)

Arguably his best game in a Banknock shirt. Calm as the middle centre-back, kept things steady and kept the ball out of the net. Read it well all day.

CB — Hadi Boudina (Knightswood AFC)

Confident at centre-half and a massive part of the clean sheet. Won his battles, stayed switched on, and gave his keeper a quieter shift.

LCB — Shaun McBrearty (GCR)

Superb across the full 90. Read danger, stepped in when it mattered, and showed how important he is to that back line. Real presence in the conditions.

LWB — Liam Scullion (Rhu Colts)

Back in after injury and didn’t look like he’d been away. Solid in his work down the left and part of a strong defensive display.

⚙️ Midfield Four

This week’s midfield four are picked for running games through the conditions — breaking things up, using the ball sensibly, and keeping their teams moving.

RM — Fin Dunne (River Nevis)

Constant threat down the right. Kept asking questions in the conditions and gave his side an outlet when others were pinned back.

CM — Allan McCoo (GCR)

A captain’s performance. Anchored the midfield, used his experience, and controlled things in front of the defence. Exactly the kind of shift Hugh wants in that area.

CM — Lewis MacVicar (Clydebank Red Star)

“Different class” sums it up. Ran the show in the middle, kept the ball moving, and set the standard in the conditions.

LM — Isaa Ali (Third Lanark AFC)

Back in the starting XI and made it count — goal, assist, MOTM, and had the full-back on the back foot. Drove his team on again.

🎯 Striker

Up top there’s only room for one. The striker’s place goes to the forward who turned a hard game his way with goals when it counted.

ST — Ciaran McFadden (Queens Park SFC)

Hat-trick and “too hot to handle” in a new role. Led the line, punished Burnhill, and looked back to his best. On a day like that, three goals from your forward settles any debate.
