Each day in December we’re pulling a cracker on someone who’s made an impact across our leagues — past, present, or still delivering every weekend
As December moves on, our Christmas Crackers continue to recognise individuals who’ve made a clear impact across the leagues. No gimmicks — just recognition for those putting the work in week after week.
Today’s Christmas Cracker recognises Kevin Young, manager of Southside United

Kevin Young returned to Southside United after his playing days to take on the manager’s role, stepping back into a club he knew well.

Taking charge in the GCFA Championship, he inherited a squad that required clearer structure and direction, with work needed both on and off the pitch.

🎁 Rebuilding the Team, Rebuilding the Spirit
If you’re talking GCFA managers, Kevin Young took over Southside United during a difficult period and has overseen significant changes to the squad.

🎅 The Good Guy at the Heart of It All
Beyond matchday decisions, Young is known within the club for his approach with players and volunteers. He places emphasis on communication, supporting younger players, and maintaining standards during difficult spells.
In an amateur football environment, that consistency and presence off the pitch is an important part of the manager’s role.

🌟 A Festive Future for Southside United
As the year draws to a close, Southside United are operating with clearer structure than when Young first took over. The work done across the squad and behind the scenes has provided a more stable platform.
This Christmas Cracker recognises Kevin Young for his role in guiding Southside United through that period and establishing consistent standards as manager.
Merry Christmas, Kevin. Merry Christmas, Southside United. And may the New Year bring even more success on and off the pitch! 🎄⚽

If you’re talking GCFA managers then Kevin Young has taken over Southside United when they were struggling and has really redeveloped their squad.
