The Scottish Saturday Amateur Cup is well underway, and our historic but thriving GCFA league teams have been flying the flag with pride.

This round has shown just how competitive the GCFA is. Some clubs have marched on, some still have it all to play for in replays, and others have bowed out after giving everything. Together, it underlines the depth and strength across the league.

BYE INTO THE NEXT ROUND

What a “bye” means

A bye is when a team automatically advances to the next round without having to play a match. It usually happens when the number of teams in a competition isn’t a perfect fit for a knockout structure (e.g., 14 teams instead of 16).

OUT THE SCOTTISH CUP

Knockout football always brings drama — and sadly, that meant saying goodbye to ten Glasgow Colleges Football Association teams as their journeys in the prestigious Scottish Amateur Cup competition came to an abrupt end.

SCOTTISH CUP UPDATE

✅ 18 teams through (with more possible after replays)

⚽ 10 teams out at this stage

⚽➡️ 10 clubs handed byes

It’s been a strong showing, and whatever the next round brings, we’re proud of how our clubs have represented GCFA Saturday morning football on the national stage.

We wish all of our progressing teams the very best of luck in the next round – flying the flag for our league in Scotland’s biggest amateur competition!
