The Scottish Sunday Cup is a chance for clubs to measure themselves against the best across the country. For GSC Sunday and manager Jason McAuliffe, it was another step in the team’s development — and one that brought both lessons and belief.

The Manager Speaks
Here’s Jason’s full take on the tie and what it means for the season ahead.
What made your team enter the Sunday Scottish Cup this season?
We entered the Sunday Scottish Cup to test ourselves against the best teams in Scotland and to see how far we can go in the competition.
Even at this early stage, was the experience of playing in the competition worthwhile for your players and coaches?
The experience was definitely worthwhile as it allows us as a team to see how we match up against the best teams in Scotland. The competition also lets the boys continue to play competitive games when not in league action.

How do you feel your side matched up against today’s opposition, given the different league levels?
I felt we matched up well against our opposition today. They were a good side performing well in the league below, which made for a great game.
Was there a point in the game when you felt the tie could swing your way or away from you?
Throughout the game I thought we were comfortable on the ball and performed well. However, the opposition hit the woodwork on a few occasions which could’ve potentially let the tie go the other way. Overall we performed well and came away the deserved winners.

What do you hope your team takes from this competition into the rest of the league season?
I hope the team takes a lot of confidence from the performance in the cup due to the level of performance on display. If we continue the level shown into the rest of the league, I am confident we can have a positive season.
Based on your experience so far, do you see the club entering again next season?
I definitely expect us to enter the competition again next year. This is our second year as a team and in the competition, with both experiences being positive. We have had good results in the competition so we will be looking forward to another year in the cup next year.

For Jason and GSC Sunday, the message is clear — this competition is about more than results. It’s about measuring progress, gaining belief, and setting standards for the season ahead. Our roving reporters will continue to share these insights from managers across the leagues, but we’d love to hear from you too. Send us your photos, match reports, and nominations so we can showcase your club’s journey.
