After a soaking Friday night left pitches heavy and conditions far from ideal, Saturday morning in the GCFA Championship still delivered plenty of drama, goals, and talking points. The rain may have lingered in the air, but it did little to dampen the intensity across the league as teams battled for points, pride, and position.

A LOOK AT THE RESULTS ⬇️

The standout result came as Port Glasgow Boys Club made a thunderous statement with an emphatic 11–0 victory over DTI AFC. Title favourites PGBC showed exactly why they’ve been tipped for the top, ruthlessly putting their opponents to the sword in a one-sided affair. DTI’s decision to turn up without a recognised goalkeeper proved costly, and PGBC took full advantage to finally climb to the summit of the league. Now established at the top, they’ll be determined to make it a long-term stay rather than a brief visit.

Over in Rhu, the hosts welcomed Third Lanark in what proved to be a significant clash. It was the visitors who left with all three points after a hard-fought 2–1 win, a result that firmly announces Third Lanark as genuine title contenders. Rhu Colts will feel they could have taken more from the game, but it was the clinical edge of the visitors that ultimately made the difference.

Greater Croftpark Rose and Netherton AFC served up a tightly contested encounter that swung on key moments. Netherton took the lead through a controversial penalty deep into first-half stoppage time, setting the tone for a tense second half.
GCR showed resilience to battle back and find an equaliser, but heartbreak followed as Netherton snatched victory from a corner with the very last kick of the match, leaving the hosts with nothing to show for their efforts.

There was no shortage of excitement as Glasgow Ansar faced Southside United in a five-goal thriller. Southside edged it 3–2 in an end-to-end contest, climbing the table in the process and building valuable momentum. For Ansar, the result adds to growing concerns as they begin to look increasingly drawn into a relegation scrap, with defensive issues continuing to haunt them.

Meanwhile, Lokomotiv Glasgow and Woodbank FC shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw. It was a game where neither side did quite enough to claim all three points, but both will likely be content to take a point and shift focus to the next challenge in what remains a tightly contested league campaign.
