GDSFC Division Two — Inside Verdict: Jack Higgins on Inter Inchinnan’s 3–2 win and game management in tough conditions
Inter Inchinnan manager Jack Higgins reflected on a 3–2 win over Motherwell Villa, with conditions, decisions, and late-game management all playing a part.

On the performance and conditions
“Well firstly, delighted with the win despite being far from our best. I felt that the wind played a part for both teams. I think we struggled at times the first half to get out and Motherwell Villa played some nice football. 2nd half, we opted to go for a smash and grab. We knew we’d have the wind and that we could make things difficult in the final third with clipped balls into the channels. It all worked out really well in the end.”
On the game turning at 2–2
“Bringing it back to 2-2 was massive, we felt a swing in momentum and knew that if we stuck to the plan another key chance would pop up. I felt really positive going into the final stretch and what a goal from Reidy to win it.”
On managing the final stages
“I was confident in the team we put out. I didn’t feel pressure to make big changes but into the last 15 I could see the midfield were looking a bit tired which prompted the double change to help see out the win.”

On the importance of the toss
“We won the toss and our captain, Fernsy, opted to switch ends so that we’d have the wind in the second half. It was a bit of a risk but he knew that if we could hold strong in the first half and stay in the game, then we could increase the pressure in the latter part of the match. He got it spot on and I think it was a huge factor on the outcome of the game.”
On the target for the season
“We just want to win as many games as we can and see where it takes us. We’ve been inconsistent since Christmas and we’re keen to get back on a winning run. We’re certainly still in the mix for promotion and we have a cup semi at the weekend, so we’re trying not to get ahead of ourselves – still quite a bit of football left to play.”

3–2, and a game managed as much as played.
Inter Inchinnan adjusted to the conditions, made the right calls, and took their moment late on.
Season still alive in the promotion race — and in weather like that, finding a way matters more than how it looks.
