GDSFC Division Two — Frank Sideline: 3rd vs 4th as Motherwell Look to Stay in the Chase

GDSFC Division Two — David Campbell on Inter Inchinnan’s 3–2 win over Motherwell Villa and handling the conditions
A game heavily shaped by the weather ended in a 3–2 win for Inter Inchinnan, with wind and rain playing a major part throughout.
Assistant manager David Campbell spoke after the match about how his side managed the conditions, the key moments, and what the result means going forward.

On the conditions and overall performance
“No real football could really be played in those conditions, but when we survived the first half against the wind only 1-0 down, I felt confident we would get the job done. It was a huge win for us, particularly because we respect the opposition and know the quality they possess.”
On the message at 2–2 with 10 minutes remaining
“I had faith in the players, the message from the sidelines was just to keep fighting for every ball. We had the wind on our side at that point, so we knew further chances would come.”

On whether the weather ruins or adds to the game
“It’s a matter of personal opinion, for me I love games that show you the character of a team. We couldn’t get the ball down and play great football, but every single one of our boys gave everything and I love to see that.”
On the importance of the toss
“Our captain won the toss and made the great decision to go against the wind first half. It meant that we knew what we had to do in the second 45, and it was a big part of why we won today.”
On the target for the rest of the season
“Promotion is the target, but we need to take it one week at a time. Our division is full of really strong teams, so we know it won’t be easy. On to a big BIA Cup semi final next week.”

3–2 in conditions that didn’t allow much football.
Inter Inchinnan found a way to manage it and take their moment.
Season still alive after a result like that — and in weather like this, that’s part of Scottish amateur football.
