Saturday Standards Are Back ⭐️
Another Saturday round of GCFA fixtures done — and the nominations tell the story again.

This is the clubs’ view of who stood out: impact moments, responsibility, and the work that decided games.

Goalkeepers decide points in February.

Might sound strange giving a goalie the plaudits in a 5-1 victory. However for the first thirty minutes it was Stevie who kept us in the game. Rounded off an excellent game with a partial assist for the fifth goal.

Defenders set the tone in February.
Headers won, gaps covered, talking constantly — the work that keeps teams in control.

Lewis controlled the back line superbly and pushed on and broke the first line of the press when needed. Deserved man of the match.

Superb performance from the wee man. Strong in the tackle as always, Lewis gave some great support going forward and stopped us going down 2-0 down with a goal saving clearance off the line!

Dec was outstanding on saturday always alert and switched on, 5.2 at half time and we took the foot off the gas credit to both CBs but Dec was a stand out for the 2nd half alone.

Sammy was in an unfamiliar position in centre mid and got a goal as well as offering a lot of energy in the middle of the park

The centre back has had to be patient this season but he has worked really hard to get himself fit and on Saturday he produced his best performance of the season.


Callan defended really well and contributed to a good defensive display for his club against River Nevis.

The Westhill captain with a captains performance. Motm. Solid in defence and lead the team well to turn a 2 goal deficit into a 3-2 win.

A debut to remember for Purdy as the utility man slotted into centre back and never put a foot wrong. A first game to remember.

In all honesty it could’ve been any 1 of the defence or goalie but Christian just edged it over them. He was solid throughout decision making and use of the ball was really good from the big man.

After a prolonged spell as coming on as a second half sub in recent games Euan finally got his chance to shine and did just that. Rounded off a fine game with a goal

Another solid performance from JB not long back from injury and in the last 2 weeks he has been up with MOTM performances adding an assist to his tally.


The left back really showed up on Saturday and put in a top drawer performance. Mooney used all his experience to help his team through a very difficult cup tie.

A solid all day at the back and a brilliant assist after doing a mazy run from centre back . Great big player tried to ease him in since coming back from a bad injury


Had to do a shift at left back and right back and was excellent throughout. Worked up and down all day and contributed with a goal from a free kick.

Barnsey was absolutely solid and scored a last minute equaliser and his experience showed throughout the game.

Midfielders
Midfielders control the rhythm in March.
Winning the ball, moving it quickly, and keeping their teams on the front foot.

Winger was asked to play Striker after ours was AWOL, in a difficult game but did well, and got a goal for his efforts to get us off the mark.

probably the best first 45 minutes I have seen from anyone, Clydebank just couldn’t live with him, a goal and 3 assists in the first half summed up a MOTM performance.

Tonner started at left midfield were he was getting lost we moved him into cm were his energy helped us settle into the game more only beaten to motm by our keeper.


Two well taken goals and scoring for the second consecutive game. Hitting form at the right time in season.


Alex produced a goal and a great all round display. Having someone like Alex in the starting 11 is a big boost to the club.


Ross was a complete handful down the left hand side and scored a belter to make it 2-1

Ale showed real quality on Saturday, dancing through the netherton midfield. He was a real handful for netherton and pushed us forward taking the ball in different positions turning and driving forward creating plenty of opportunities for us.

Back in his favoured left wing roll he netted twice and was a constant threat to the Kings Park side

Tough tackling Sean battled hard for the ninety minutes, and got a goal directly, and an assist, his wicked delivery on corners.

Tony dominated the game winning Man of the match as he controlled the tempo of game against an energetic Cathcart side


Luke scored two goals and a produced a great performance in midfield.

A constant threat on the left-hand side and a real handful for the opposition defence. Tireless running and quality on the ball.

Cailean brought on as an early first half sub and dominated the midfield with his powerful running and tackling.

Chrissy was a real danger to the Clydebank fullback especially in the first half always posing a danger when on the ball, referees MOTM for saturday we are all unsure how, however probably robbed the week before so we will let him have it this week.

The midfielder really set the tone for the game on Saturday with a couple of tough challenges in the midfield area. Gary and his midfield partner Conner Wilson covered every blade of Grass helping their team into the next round of the competition.

Forwards turn pressure into outcomes in February.
Movement, timing, and finishing when chances are rare.

For the second week in a row Faddy climbed off the bench to secure a draw with a late goal. Volleying home from inside the box to take us to penalties; he also scored from the spot in the shootout. Proving to be a player for the big moment!


Back in the side after being away for a few weeks, well taken goal and two assists. Team is more complete with him in the lineup.

Archie was at his inspiring best. Capped off a great all round performance by winning and then converting a penalty to make it 4-1.

Vlod was back to himself on Saturday full of running and energy he never gave the red star defence a second on the ball his unselfish work doesn’t go unnoticed by his teammates. Great link up play with Ethan at times a really good performance.

Angus gave everything in a powerful performance, and weighed in with 2 massive goals.

Ethan had a hand to play in all 3 goals his cross was turned into red stars own net. He took his other 2 goals really well the 2nd coming at a crucial point in the game a moment of magic turning the defender and keeper inside out before calmly slotting home. Well deserved man of the match performance.

Kyle doing what Kyle does best. Scoring 2 and getting the assist for the other. Kyle ran the defenders ragged all day long and got his rewards.

The striker turned up late after being AWOL, but made amends and fought hard and grabbed the winner in 82nd minute.

Stephen grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half with his natural ability and got a double that eventually won the game.

Vincent scored another first half hatrick for Vinny this weekend. Hit a great bit of form when the team needed it most.


the striker put in a great shift on Saturday. The big forward took his goal very well.

Nick scored 2 goals which were both excellent finishes, The striker was a constant threat to the busby defence all day long.

Another outstanding finish to send Rossvale on their way to a big win over Clydebank SMFC
