Friday night football returned in style this week, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. With two thrilling matches on display, supporters were treated to goals, drama, and a penalty shootout to cap off an unforgettable evening.

Championship: Woodbank FC 4–3 DTI AFC

The headline game of the night saw Woodbank FC edge out DTI AFC in a seven-goal thriller. Both sides went toe-to-toe in an end-to-end contest packed with attacking football and big moments.

DTI AFC showed plenty of fight and matched Woodbank throughout much of the game, but it was Woodbank who had the final say. With the match poised at 3–3 heading into the closing moments, Woodbank found a dramatic last-minute winner to seal a 4–3 victory and send their club into jubilant celebrations

It was a game that had everything — goals, momentum swings, and a dramatic finish right at the death.

Jim Harvey Cup: Queen’s Park SFC win on penalties

Over in the Jim Harvey Cup, the drama continued as Queen’s Park SFC faced Glasgow Medics in another high-scoring contest.

After a fiercely contested 90 minutes, the teams couldn’t be separated with the match finishing 3–3. With neither side able to find a winner in normal time, the tie went to penalties.

Queen’s Park SFC kept their composure from the spot and came out on top in the shootout, securing their place in the next round and ending a brilliant cup tie that kept everyone on edge.

It’s fantastic to have Friday night football back, and if this week is anything to go by, we’re in for a great run of matches ahead. Two games, thirteen goals, a last-minute winner, and a penalty shootout — you really couldn’t ask for much more to kick things off.
