The GCFA Championship continues to prove why it’s one of the most competitive divisions in Saturday morning football.

February delivered goals, tight matches, and players stepping up when their teams needed them most. Some arrived this season and made an immediate impact, others continue to set the standards week after week — but all four nominees have influenced results during a crucial month of league football.

This shortlist isn’t about hype. It’s about contribution. Performances that helped move teams forward, moments that turned games, and players whose form has been impossible to ignore.

Shaun Wallace – RHU COLTS

Shaun is one of Rhu Colts new signings in the summer that came in with bags of experience and has really made a huge difference to the squad.

His experience has been invaluable to the club as they have inserted themselves into the Championship title race.

A top month for Shaun has saw the striker score five goals and help his side to two victories.

Jamie Curran – PORT GLASGOW BOYS CLUB

Kieran Tidser – NETHERTON AFC

Kieran has been enjoying a very good season with his club Netherton AFC, infact the midfielder is a former winner of our player of the week award.

The physical midfielder has had a very good February and has put himself in contention for the Player Of The Month award.

Craig Taylor – SOUTHSIDE UNITED

The Southside United attacker has had a standout February scoring four goals and playing in a team who won all four of their games in the month.

February was a month of dreams for Craig and he will hoping he can replicate that during the month of March.

Four players. Four strong cases.

Goals scored. Midfields controlled. Matches influenced.

That’s what this award is meant to recognise — players making the difference when the Championship schedule starts to bite.

No buzzwords, no shortcuts — just lads doing it right. That’s Scottish amateur football as Hugh sees it.
