The Captain’s Log – Leadership Peak

Some weeks come down to shape and decisions.

Others turn on moments.

This weekend was about captains.

Not the armband — the actions.

Across the league, games tightened and standards were tested. When it mattered, skippers stepped in — organising, demanding the ball, and taking responsibility when things could easily have gone the other way.

What followed wasn’t flashy or rehearsed. It was leadership in real time, shown in different ways but with the same effect: pulling teams through difficult spells and setting the tone when it counted.

Max (Burnhill FC) – Brave, Calm, Unshakeable

Johnny Donald (Nethercraigs) – Captain. Catalyst.

With Nethercraigs needing inspiration, Johnny Donald delivered it himself.
He won a penalty and stepped up to take it, then wasn’t finished — two late goals completed the comeback and turned a difficult afternoon around.
When it mattered, he took responsibility and made the difference.

Alan McCoo (Greater Croftpark Rose) – The Return of the Skipper

Allan McCoo
After two months on the sidelines, Alan McCoo returned wearing the armband — and you’d never have known he’d been away.
He put in a huge shift, led from the front, and gave everything for the badge.
Greater Croftpark Rose ended up on the losing side, but this was still a captain’s performance.

Jordan Grant (PSP) – Leading Outside the Comfort Zone

Jordan Grant
Jordan Grant adapted when his team needed him.
Stepping into centre back — not his natural position — he delivered a calm, disciplined performance in PSP’s win over Glasgow Island.
He did the job the team required and anchored the result.

Jamie Curran (Port Glasgow BC) – Relentless and Ruthless

Jamie Curran Man of the Match. Two goals.
Jamie Curran caused constant problems for Southside United, leading the line with aggression and edge.
Every run mattered, every touch counted — and the scoreboard told the story.

Mikey McRear (Cambuslang FA) – Consistency, Control, Captaincy

Final Whistle

This week wasn’t about formations or tweaks.
It came down to captains stepping in when games tightened — organising, adapting, and taking responsibility when it was needed.
