A titanic clash at Scotstoun saw Glasgow Island dominate the first half, creating several chances. Charlie Morrison, a very late call up, headed close twice before Zander had a shot at the back post blocked after fine work by Archie.

From the Island view:
Glasgow Island’s account of a dramatic morning at Scotstoun.

The PSP striker, undoubtedly a fine player, struck the crossbar from a free kick before letting himself down with a dive more suited to the nearby swimming pool. The biggest theatrical flop since Wicked 2.

Daniel had a goal disallowed for offside before the moment that ultimately changed the game. A corner from Glasgow Island was nodded home at the back post, only for the referee, who was overly fussy throughout the game, to blow for a foul that no one saw nor claimed, an incredulous decision. Seconds later, the halftime whistle.

Into the second 45 and from a cleared corner a beauty from PSP, a volley into the far corner, the ball wedging poignantly between net and upright. It really was technically superb execution and worthy of such a good game.

After losing momentum, the islanders roared back into it, Angus Macdonald cutting inside and shooting wide then having a fierce drive parried by the PSP keeper. The pressure was building and an equaliser duly came, Findlay winning the ball and slipping Archie clear on the right wing. His cross across the face of goal was stabbed home by Jake. 1-1 and all to play for.

Heartbreakingly for GI, with virtually the last kick of a game they did more than enough to win, a shot came in from the PSP right and was turned in by their sub striker, standing a yard from goal in a suspiciously offside position. The goal was given and PSP snatched the three points.

Final score: PSP 2-1 Glasgow Island
