Kelburne AFC v Drumchapel
GDSFC CHAMPIONSHIP
Thomas Boyd
Keeper

Weather thankfully wasn’t as freezing as it had been over the past week. So even though it was torrential rain first thing this morning knew we’d be good to go. We’d had a good number of weeks since our last fixture too so the lads were keen to get up and running once more.
In general didn’t think the weather played too much of a part in the game. Surface at Renfrew probably needs a bit of rain to help the game flow as it’s a bit worn. Of course a pitch we’ve played at a lot over the past few seasons so we’re used to it. As a result we didn’t need to change how we approached the game once we got going.
Once it got going and conditions held up, how did the pitch and weather affect how you played?

After the game opened up and the goals started coming, what pleased you most about the team’s performance today?
The most pleasing aspect was the desire to complete the 90 minutes at a high performance level. Would’ve been easy for us to drop off and not push for more or concede another consolation goal but was clear to see that everyone wanted to keep chipping away right to the end. That came from the boys who started the game and the subs too. All played a big part today.

A composed performance in difficult conditions, handled with control rather than fuss. Kelburne looked comfortable managing the game once they found their rhythm, with focus maintained right through to the final whistle.

GDSFC Championship — League Update
Blantyre United’s defeat to Yoker Athletic tightens the picture at the top of the Championship. Kelburne close the gap with games in hand, while Yoker’s win keeps them firmly in the promotion mix. With fixtures still uneven across the division, points on the board are starting to matter just as much as those still to be played.
