Out with the old, in with the new is our latest feature.
At this point in the season, the phrase starts to mean something very specific — what’s been left behind, and what’s shaping the weeks ahead.

The turn of the year always brings a bit of perspective, and for everyone down at Nethercraigs, the view from the upper regions of the Premier League is a positive one.

Nethercraigs are right in the mix near the top of the Premier League at the turn of the year. To understand how they have reached this position, it helps to look back at the foundations laid during their most successful period.

OUT WITH THE OLD

When discussing the heights the club has reached, Sean Watson is often the first name mentioned. A top-quality striker, Watson was a key figure in the most successful season in the club’s history. He led the line during a period that delivered the Championship, the Jim Harvey Cup, and the End of Season Cup.

That success led to a move into the junior ranks, a step that reflected both his impact and his progress. Watson continues his career at that level, while the period he led at Nethercraigs helped lay the foundations for the club’s later push toward the top end of the Premier League.

IN WITH THE NEW

Ewonode Ajiri represents the next phase of that progression. Signed from Southside AFC in the SMFA, he has made an immediate impact since arriving at Nethercraigs. Where Watson led the side through its rise, Ajiri has played a key role in sustaining the club’s position near the top end of the Premier League this season.

His introduction has also reflected well on the recruitment work of Boyd and McDonald, whose recent additions have strengthened the squad at the right time. Ajiri has added a consistent goal threat, contributing to a side that has moved from being competitive in the division to firmly established among the league’s leading teams.

As the season gathers pace, the momentum is with Nethercraigs.
