From earlier this season.

October in the Boca Championship delivered plenty of talking points, but one individual performance stood out enough to earn official recognition at the time — and it’s worth revisiting during the festive break.

That month belonged to David Connolly of Rhu Colts, whose influence in midfield was impossible to overlook as the fixtures stacked up.

We announce  GCFA BOCA CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR October

The Boca Championship produced plenty of notable performances in October, with one Rhu Colts player playing a central role in his side’s results during that spell.

An excellent October personally means Rhu Colts midfielder David Connolly walks away with the Boca Championship Player of the Month award.

Midfielders don’t always get the recognition they deserve. While strikers grab headlines with goals and defenders with last-ditch tackles, it’s often the players in the middle of the park who quietly control the rhythm of the game.

This month, however, there has been no ignoring David Connolly. His performances have been superb, earning him the well-deserved October Player of the Month award.

Player of the month

Since joining Rhu Colts in the summer from St Pats, David has quickly become an important part of the squad. His experience has brought balance to the group, particularly benefiting younger players through his leadership and example on the pitch.

Across October, his performances consistently showed his quality and influence in midfield. That form was underlined in the West of Scotland Cup tie against Woodbank, where he scored a hat-trick and provided an assist in a decisive display. He posed problems for the opposition throughout and played a key role whenever Rhu Colts were on the front foot.

David Connolly embodies the impact of new arrivals at GCFA , combining proven ability with leadership. Congratulations, David, on a fantastic month!

THE GAFFER

We caught up with his gaffer Jamie Kjorstad who said.

David Connolly

Since joining us in August after a spell away from football, David Connolly has quickly shown he can be a key player for this team.

A proper old-fashioned winger, David combines hard work with real quality in the final third—timing his runs into the box superbly and always looking to take on fullbacks and hit the byline.

He’s become a reliable out ball when we’re under pressure and a real creative force in attack. His improvement game by game has been outstanding, and his performances this month have been unbelievable.

The exciting thing for us—and not so much for our opponents—is that there’s still even more to come from him.

From quality passes and tireless running in the engine room to ruthless playmaking, October showed us exactly what this midfielder is all about — quality on the pitch and passion behind the badge.

After four seasons of covering the GCFA, it remains a genuine pleasure to highlight the individuals who make this league such a strong one to promote.

Players setting standards on the pitch, managers backing their squads week after week, referees giving their time, and clubs who consistently engage — these moments and people are what keep the GCFA moving forward, season after season.
