Referees are part of every match, but their perspective is rarely heard once the final whistle goes. Earlier this season, we introduced Referee Voices — a chance to hear from officials about the flow of a game, the behaviour of players, and how a contest felt from the middle.
As part of our Season So Far recap, this feature looks back at that first referee interview from October. Two evenly matched sides, played in the right manner, and handled calmly throughout — a reminder that good officiating is often noticed most when it allows the football to speak for itself.
Our first referee feature lands with video interview at Clydebank, with Kevin McIntyre giving the view from the middle.
Two evenly matched sides, played the right way, and handled well from first whistle to last.

Both teams made the match enjoyable. Well behaved for the most part and respectful, and overall was a good tight game that wss evenly contested.
Was there a moment — a goal, a challenge, or even a bit of sportsmanship — that, despite the conditions, summed up the spirit of Scottish amateur football for you?
Nothing comes to mind so will let you come up with one of them.

The pass for the cambusnethan goal. Captain was fouled in the middle of the park and I played advantage and he played a great ball through which took the whole of the Clydebank defence pretty much out the equation.

How would you describe the overall feel of the game — fiery, respectful, end-to-end, or something else?
Hard fought, closely contested game. 2 evenly matched teams and played in the right manner.
Looking back, how do you reflect on the match from the referee’s perspective?
Really enjoyable. If all matches could be like that there would be no issues. Both teams a credit to themselves and the league, both trying to play football the right way and Clydebank probably did enough to edge the game overall.

“After a firm 50/50, both skippers shared a quick word and reset the tone — the kind of small gesture that keeps Sunday football flowing.”
