Saturday saw the return of the Scottish Cup to the GCFA fixture calendar with six of our clubs participating in the prestigious tournament.
THE WINNING TEAMS
Knightswood Make History with Nail-Biting Win!
Knightswood AFC secured their place in the next round of the Scottish Amateur Cup following a dramatic 1-0 victory against Cambusnethen Talbot.
The historic win marks a monumental achievement for the club, as this is officially the furthest they have ever progressed in the competition. The single, decisive goal by Ross McDougall was enough to seal the hard-fought battle, leaving the players celebrating a truly memorable day.

Port Glasgow Boys Club Stage Thrilling Comeback!
Port Glasgow Boys Club delivered a stunning performance this weekend, shaking off the disappointment of last week’s defeat with a crucial 3-2 win over Westerton United.
In what was described as a rollercoaster match, PGBC showed incredible resolve and team spirit to overcome their rivals. The five-goal thriller saw Port Glasgow’s attacking prowess shine through, ensuring they join Knightswood in the next phase of the competition. Their recovery from last week proves they have the resilience and firepower to compete at this level.
💔 Scottish Cup Heartbreak: Four Teams Exit in Stormy Second Round ⚽
The dream of lifting the prestigious Scottish Amateur Cup came to a sudden and disappointing end for four prominent teams this weekend, as the tournament’s fourth round delivered drama, controversy, and high-scoring affairs.
Unwanted Christmas Cards
Perhaps the most unfortunate exit was that of Rutherglen Glencairn AFC, the current Premier League Cup winners. Their encounter against Castlemilk was marred by an early, contentious sending-off, leaving them with a massive hill to climb.
“Going 1 goal down and a man down made this an insurmountable challenge,” a source close to the club commented.
Despite their best efforts, the Glencairn team were unable to recover from the deficit and the numerical disadvantage, ultimately falling to a heavy 6-0 defeat.

Epic Battles and Gallant Exits
In other ties, GCFA Cup holders Toryglen Thistle were involved in a hard-fought “epic battle” against Shortless AFC. The Ayrshire side proved too strong on the day, securing a 4-1 victory and ending Thistle’s cup run.
Recently Promoted Cambuslang Milan also saw their great run in the competition come to an end, as they were defeated 4-1 by Dunblane SC.
Finally, the former GCFA champions Park Sports Project bowed out in an exhilarating eight-goal thriller against Whitletts Victoria. Park Sports gave it a valiant effort but ultimately lost the high-scoring contest 5-3.
While these four teams now turn their focus back to league action, the Scottish Amateur Cup continues and promises more drama in the next round for Knightswood AFC and Port Glasgow Boys Club.
