Saturday saw two top teams meet at Scotstoun Sports Centre with someone’s title challenge destined to take a hit.
Glasgow Island went into the match as the team on form whilst Corinthians had hit on of the worst patches of form in the clubs history.

To beat a fantastic outfit like Corinthians you need at least two things: a strong squad and a good performance. Sadly for Glasgow Island this morning, even their most ardent of fans would struggle to make a case that they had either.
Glasgow Island were robbed of some key players due to injury and illness, the starting lineup was hardly a scratch eleven, but the late changes clearly unsettled a team which had been on a long winning streak.

Corinthians had a winning game plan and stuck to it, defending resolutely and using their pacy wide men to spin behind the islanders back line. This created the opening goal after ten minutes, the Corinthians attacker Vezza beating the offside trap well and slotting home.
Both sides threatened, each hitting the crossbar, but at the turn it was still 1-0 to the visitors.
Into the second 45 and the islanders just couldn’t get going, and it was no surprise when their opponents doubled their lead with a Kennedy glancing header from a corner shortly after they missed a great chance by skewing a shot wide and then hitting the crossbar again.

The islanders battled but couldn’t create any clear chances, and when a mixup in their midfield sent a Corinthians forward Murney away for a third goal, the game was up. Just one of those days for the islanders, who will look to dust themselves off ahead of their next game.
Final score: Glasgow Island 0-3 Corinthians
