Each day in December we’re pulling a cracker on someone who’s made an impact across our leagues — past, present, or still delivering every weekend

It’s December 1st, and we’re opening the first of our Christmas Crackers — a daily spotlight on players who’ve made a real mark across our leagues. No gimmicks, just recognition for the ones who set standards.

And there was only one place to start.

Darren Doyle has been a leader in every shirt he’s worn. From Woodbank to Rosehill United and now Cathcart AFC, he’s been one of the most respected figures in the Conference. A defender who plays the game properly, carries himself well, and is still guiding the next generation a decade after lifting silverware.

🥇 The ‘Cracker’ Story

Darren is the definition of a league cornerstone. He brings the festive spirit of leadership and respect every time he steps onto the pitch.

When we started putting this series together, Darren’s name was one of the first on the list.

He has an impressive CV, having previously captained both Woodbank AFC and Rosehill United. The highlight of his career sleigh ride came in the 2014/15 season when he helped guide Rosehill United to the Division One title!

Ten years after one of Darren’s career highlights the defender is still going strong helping pass on his knowledge to the next generation of talent coming through first at Woodbank and now at Cathcart AFC.
