John Tierney made his mark at the weekend with a hat-trick for Muirend Athletic against GSC, turning a difficult start into a standout personal performance.

He’s only played a handful of games this season, but three goals and a big impact meant it was the right time to give him his own feature — a simple striker’s story told in his own words.

Hat trick v GSC GDSFC DIV 3

How would you describe your season so far? (Goals, form, general feeling)

I’ve only really played a few games for muirend but the times I have played I’ve enjoyed the goals I’ve played, being part of the team and a perfect start to my participation in the team.

When was the last time you scored a hat-trick?

At the weekend there against west end. Buzzing

Seems John’s penalty wasn’t his favourite of his 3
Talk us through the three goals — which was your favourite?
The first goal I scored was my fave as it got us back in the game after we were losing 0-2. I hit it with my left peg into the top left hand corner keeper had no chance.

On average, how many goals do you usually score in a season?

I’m unsure how many goals I score in a season however I do set a target for myself of how many goals I would like to score per game
