Our reporter was in place to watch our match of the day between Park Sports Project and Rutherglen Glencairn AFC

A crisp morning at PSP delivered the kind of game this league’s known for., as two in-form sides produced a spectacle worthy of the billing. Both PSP and Rutherglen arrived with momentum — and neither left without having left it all on the pitch.

Rutherglen flew out of the blocks, setting a furious tempo and pressing the PSP back line with long throws and successive corners. But PSP’s defence stood tall, repelling wave after wave of early pressure.

And then, against the run of play, the opener arrived.

The game settled into a more balanced rhythm, with both sides probing for openings. Rutherglen threatened on 16 minutes when a wicked free-kick down the “corridor of uncertainty” forced Jonnie into a sharp low save to his left.

PSP doubled their advantage just six minutes later. Gal was clipped on the left edge of the box, and from the resulting free-kick, Gorlach’s strike forced a save — only for Colin to react quickest and bury the rebound. 2–0.

Gal then skimmed a free-kick over the bar on 23 minutes, before Anton produced an excellent covering challenge to snuff out a dangerous Rutherglen attack down the right.

As half-time approached, another rapid PSP throw saw Gal charge goalward from the right, but his effort flew over.

PSP entered the interval 2–0 ahead, their defensive discipline shining throughout the half.

The restart resumed the intensity. Gal drew yet another foul on 54 minutes, but this time nothing came of the set piece.

Then came an astonishing six-minute turnaround.

Rutherglen struck on 59 minutes, sweeping home a cross from the right.

Two minutes later, a ball threaded down the left was cut inside and dispatched into the far corner — suddenly it was 2–2.

On 64 minutes, a driving run into the box drew a late challenge and a penalty. Jonnie produced heroics to his left to keep it out.

Unfortunately from the resulting corner, a towering header completed the comeback and Rutherglen were cooking. 2–3 Rutherglen!!

Many would have folded — PSP did the opposite.

With momentum swinging wildly, Ali nearly capitalised on sharp pressing on 70 minutes, dispossessing a defender before slipping Gal slightly wide.

McGav’s superb ball on 78 minutes was inches beyond Colin, before Rutherglen rattled the post with a fierce free-kick from the left edge on 81 minutes.

Callum stung the goalkeeper’s gloves on 85 minutes with a driven effort from range, but neither side could find a winner before the final whistle.

After a frantic finish full of tackles and chances, both sides shared the spoils — and the spectators went home thoroughly entertained.
