You ever get the feeling a football match just doesn’t want to happen?
Because that’s exactly what’s going on with Busby AFC and Greater Croftpark Rose in the GCFA Championship, this fixture has now been postponed twice in the same month.

The first date back at the start of October was doomed the moment the heavens decided to open. We’re not talking drizzle — this was “build an ark and save the animals” weather.
By kick-off time, the pitch looked like someone had tried to grow rice in it. The ref went out to inspect the surface and nearly lost a shoe in the mud. That was enough for everyone to call it a day.
🌬️ Take Two – And the Rain came back ☔️
So one month later the pitch finally dried out. The sun even showed up for a bit. Things were looking hopeful. And then towards the end of the week… the Rain came back
Not just a light drizzle or even a small downpour. We’re talking days of rain that made venue more like a swimming pool rather than a football pitch,
Officials wisely decided football probably shouldn’t be played in weather suited to ducks.

🤷 Is This Match Cursed?
At this stage, you’ve got to wonder. Did someone anger the weather gods? Did Busby build their ground on ancient meteorological burial land?
Both squads are still trying to stay sharp, though by now some players are probably worried the next postponement will be due to snowfall in July.
⏳ So… Now What?
The two clubs and the fixtures secretary are trying to set a new date, ideally one where the weather isn’t planning a dramatic performance of its own..
Honestly, if the next date falls through, I say just play at Toryglen indoors.
⚽ When It Finally Happens…
Whenever this thing finally kicks off — whether it’s next week, next month, or sometime in the next decade — it might be the most anticipated game of the whole season simply because nobody believes it’ll actually take place.
So here’s to hoping the clouds behave, the wind chills out, and the third time really is the charm.
Until then, umbrella at the ready. Just in case.
