The Unmasking: Ronald McDonald, A GCFA Legend Who Still Delivers the Treat
Hallowe’en is a time for ghouls, ghosts, and legends. And while most of the frights are reserved for the streets, there’s one figure in the GCFA Premier League who, despite his famously colourful nickname, has only ever delivered pure gold—and occasionally, a little bit of fear into the hearts of opposing defenders.
We are, of course, talking about Nethercraigs stalwart, the man known throughout the league as Ronald McDonald.

A Model Professional’s Legacy
His playing days at St Ants may feel like a lifetime ago, but the quality, commitment, and unmistakable professionalism he displayed then are still very much on show. Unlike many who fade out of the top flight, Ronald McDonald is still producing the goods week-in, week-out for Nethercraigs, proving that age is just a number when talent and dedication are eternal.
In a league that thrives on passion, Ronald is a pillar of consistency. He has always been, and remains, a model professional. If you could put a price on experience, his market value would be astronomical.

Passing on the Wisdom
What truly elevates Ronald McDonald to the status of a league legend isn’t just his ability to boss the midfield or dictate the play; it’s his willingness to share the secrets of the trade.
Often, you can see him passing on his wisdom to the younger Nethercraigs players, providing the kind of mentorship that simply can’t be taught in a coaching manual. Whether it’s advice on positioning, the art of a perfectly weighted pass, or simply how to conduct yourself off the pitch, his lessons are invaluable.
In our GCFA league set up, Ronald is one of the most respected players, and rightly so. This Hallowe’en, while others are dressing up as their heroes, we salute the real-life legend whose commitment to the beautiful game is anything but a costume.
