Visitors Glasgow Island secure 3-1 victory in highly competitive league fixture at Budhill

Glasgow Islands successfully ended Toryglen Thistle’s impressive unbeaten streak today, defeating the home side 3-1 in a decisive league encounter.

The match, played in front of a healthy number of Spectators, saw the visitors establish an early lead and maintain their composure through a tense second half.

Glasgow Islands took control of the game early in the first half. Forward Archie McNicol who scored the opening goal in the 10th minute.

Eight minutes later, Zander doubled the lead for the Islanders, converting an effort from outside the box to give his side a two-goal advantage heading into the halftime interval.

The unbeaten Toryglen Thistle responded after the break, increasing their attacking pressure. Their efforts were rewarded in the 57th minute when McGillivray registered a goal, cutting the deficit and injecting renewed urgency into the match.

Despite the pressure, Glasgow Islands’ defense remained disciplined. The result was secured in the 89th minute when Cammy scored the third and final goal for the Islanders, confirming the 3-1 scoreline.

The victory provides a significant boost for Glasgow Islands as they continue their league campaign, while Toryglen Thistle will be keen to regroup following their first defeat in several weeks.
