We take a look at what went down on Saturday in the Championship. Thirty three goals in only five matches on Saturday with that averaging over five goals per game.

SEVEN-UP NETHERTON ROCKETS TOWARDS TOP SIX AS DTI’S NIGHTMARE CONTINUES

GOAL EXPLOSION RATTLES TABLE AFTER GRUELLING SATURDAY

Saturday October 25 2025

The Championship table has been blown wide open after a day of stunning goal-fests and surprise scorelines.

While the top spot remains a tightly contested affair, the most immediate drama centres on a colossal goal difference and the stark contrast between the league’s high-flyers and its strugglers.

KINGS PARK: THE TRUE CONTENDERS

Despite Kings Park United’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Port Glasgow Boys Club on Saturday, they emerged from the weekend looking like the league’s strongest outfit.

While they share 11 points with Glasgow Ansar, Kings Park has a significant edge: they’ve played one less game (5 vs. Ansar’s 6) and boast an incredible +19 goal difference.

They are scoring at a frightening pace, proving that while Ansar currently holds the top position, the true momentum lies with Kings Park United. Ansar, who suffered a heavy 7-3 defeat to Netherton on Saturday, will need to tighten their defence if they hope to hold onto the top spot.

NETHERTON AND THIRD LANARK ON THE RISE

The biggest movers of the weekend were Netherton AFC and Third Lanark AFC. Netherton’s 7-3 demolition of the league leaders propelled them into 5th place with a strong +6 goal difference from just three games—a clear sign that they are a serious threat.

Third Lanark AFC’s dominant 6-1 victory over DTI AFC pushed them into the 6th spot. With 10 goals scored and only 5 conceded in three matches, they look to be the most balanced team in the chasing pack.

STRUGGLES AT THE BASE

The weekend delivered more disappointment for the bottom two clubs.

Southside United’s winless streak continued with a 2-2 draw against Greater Croftpark Rose leaving them clinging to 11th place on three points.

However, the real crisis is engulfing DTI AFC. Their 1-6 thrashing by Third Lanark marks their fifth consecutive loss, leaving them anchored to the bottom with zero points and an alarming -27 goal difference.

Having conceded 32 goals in just five games, DTI must find a solution to their defensive frailties immediately if they are to salvage their season.
