🧠 Hugh Dunnit on the GCFA

Hugh loves his GCFA — always has. Every stat, every scoreline, every muddy touchline tells a story to him.

Each week, he crunches the numbers, calls the patterns, and delivers his GCFA Team of the Week, spotlighting the players who made the biggest impact.

➡️ See who made this week’s line-up here: https://footyfocus.org/2025/10/24/%f0%9f%92%a5-hugh-dunnits-xi-the-ones-who-actually-made-it-happen/

Now, he’s back with his weekend stat breakdown — a look across the Premier, Championship and Conference where the numbers do the talking, and Hugh just calls it as he sees it.

If you like tidy league tables, you’ve picked the wrong association. Every division’s tighter than a five-a-side goalmouth, and the data’s got more twists than the Kelvin walkway.

🏆 Premier League – “Six Into One Won’t Go”

Six clubs could be within a single point of top spot by lunchtime. Corinthians sit out this week on 16 pts, leaving PSP (15 pts) one win from the summit. Toryglen Thistle have a perfect four-from-four record with a +13 goal difference — best defensive ratio in the league (1.25 goals conceded per match). Glencairn lead the scoring race with 21 goals in 5 games (4.2 per match). At the bottom, Clydeside Athletic, Clydebank SMFC and Red Star have shipped 61 goals combined. That’s not defending — that’s donating. Average goals per game: 3.7, highest of any GCFA division.

📈 Prediction: whoever defends better between PSP, Glencairn, and Toryglen takes control. Everyone else is just rehearsing for a shoot-out.

Premier League Title Race Heats Up on Saturday- THE FIXTURES

⚙️ Championship – “Unbeatens and Unravellings”

Glasgow Ansar and Kings Park United remain unbeaten. A single point splits them — 11 vs 10. Kings Park have scored 20 and conceded only once in four games. That’s a 95% clean-sheet rate. Busby AFC are lurking with two wins from two; 100% record, just fewer played. DTI are the league’s punch-bag: 26 conceded in four games (6.5 per match). Goals per game: 3.53 — lively, but trending downward as top sides tighten up.

🧠 Note: Ten teams have already scored in double figures. It’s an attacking division, but only five have a positive goal difference — clear split between contenders and survivors.

🏅 Conference – “Remo’s Ruthless Run”

Remo FC are the GCFA’s only team with a perfect record — 5 wins, 0 draws, 0 losses. They’ve scored 21 and conceded 8 — +13 GD, 4.2 goals per match. Westhill United sit a point behind River Nevis, both chasing hard. Cathcart have the wildest stat line: 18 scored, 21 conceded in four games — 9.75 goals per match average. League total: 174 goals in 53 games (3.28 per game).

🔍 Trend: Conference football is open, attacking, and punishes anyone trying to sit in. If you want structure, look away.

CONFERENCE LEAGUE FIXTURES – 25th OCTOBER

Hugh loves a stat chart

📊 Across all divisions: 516 goals in 147 games — 3.51 goals per match.

Defences are optional, strikers are thriving, and nobody’s settled. Just how Hugh likes it.

Stats don’t tell you who wants it more, but they do show who’s switched on. Right now, PSP look focused, Remo are ruthless, and Kings Park are disciplined. Everyone else? Trying to work out what ‘shape’ means.

Keep the numbers handy — they’ll tell you where the trophies end up before the winter mud does.

🤖 The bot crunched the stats — Hugh just told you what they mean.
