💥 Hugh Dunnit’s XI — The Ones Who Actually Made It Happen

Picked on impact, level, and match-changing moments — not just stats. This week’s Squad of the Week spotlights the players who swung games: saves at 1–0, last-ditch tackles, midfield pressure, and finishes under heat.

Thanks to the clubs for the detail in your nominations. We’ve leaned on that insight to reward the performances that mattered most across Saturday morning football.

Goalkeepers

Defenders

Midfielders

MID – Seoras – BURNHILL FC

An outstanding performance out of position from the Burnhill newboy. Combining creativity, composure, and constant effort, Seoras ran the midfield, winning the ball back in the air and on the deck, Seoras’ presence was felt in all moments of the game, from exchanging one touch passes with teammates, to launching counters with his vision.

MID – Alessandro Taouss – WESTHILL UNITED

Motm and a really strong all round performance, Ale added a real physicality to the team.

MID – Brad Gray – TORYGLEN THISTLE

Brad ran the midfield, constantly beating men and starting off toryglens attacks.

MID – Marc Buckley – WESTHILL UNITED

Two goals for Marc today and one of those was an absolute peach! The winger was unstoppable at times.

MID – Dale Mullen – PORT GLASGOW BOYS CLUB

A MOTM performance showing his versatility being a key figure in the central areas

MID – Lewis Barr – REMO FC

Lewis was brilliant at the weekend, dominating on the ball and proving to be a real engine in the team. After trailing 1–0, he helped inspire the comeback with a goal of his own as we went on to win 1–3. Lewis is improving each week and has become a real asset to the team. A very tricky winger to be against.

MID – David Connolly – RHU COLTS

Hat trick for David  plus an assist made for an outstanding performance on Sat. A constant thread when on the ball.

MID – John Carrick – CORINTHIANS

John is also one of the original Corinthians who has scored a lot of gods over the past 3 years. He’s been carrying an injury of late, which is hindering his game. That’s why it was great to see him scoring twice on Saturday.

MID – Ali Naysmith – LOKOMOTIV

A rolls Royce of a midfielder, Ali grabbed a hat trick of assists, each to different players as he pulled the strings all game.

MID – Paul Cavanna – RHU COLTS

The experienced midfielder is now back to his best with a workmanlike performance. Doubt there is a blade of grass he didn’t cover and really good for the team that he is back to full fitness.

MID – Mohamed Benghellab – GREATER CROFTPARK ROSE

Big Mo has arguably been one of GCR’s best players over the last month or so. His goal on Saturday was another goal of the season contender and it was a vital goal to equalise on the stroke of half time and his overall performance helped his team to a valuable three points.

MID – Andy Lindsay – TORYGLEN THISTLE

Andy got an assist in the first minute then a goal for himself on the 8th minute. Was a constant threat down the left side.

MID – Daniel – BURNHILL FC

An impressive brace for Burnhill’s newest signing. Playing off the left wing Daniel took both his goals well and brought the ball forward into dangerous areas with a combination of intelligent off the ball movement and impressive dribbling.

Strikers

STR – Strithic Bains – BANKNOCK FC

since moving to 2 strikers Strithic and Ryan’s partnership has been a joy to watch how they link up together. Strithic worked his socks off in the 4-1 win and popped up with another 2 assists

STR – Ethan Furze – BISHOPTON FC

Ethan was a constant threat all morning he should be delighted by his performance but he will be disappointed he didn’t get a hat-trick. 2 great goals though the second proving to be the match winner at 2-2 with 15 minutes to go he calmly slotted into the bottom corner.

STR – Connor Milligan – CORINTHIANS

Connor is one of the original Corinthians.  He is a striker who is coming back from injury. He’s started the last 2 games and is getting sharper all the time. His energy and effort at the weekend was noticed and assisted in our 3-1 win.

STR – Leroy smith – RUTHERGLEN GLENCAIRN AFC

Leroy again with another 3 goals and caused irvine all sorts of problems the whole game.

STR – Cal Connolly – CORINTHIANS

Cal is a new signing this season. A striker who is starting to find form as he scored last week and then again this week. I think we will be seeing Cal on the scoresheet fairly regularly. A good addition to the team.

STR – Luke Kimmins – ROSSVALE HUNTERSHILL

Another great performance from Luke. Scored the equaliser and scored the winning penalty in the shootout that sent the club into the next round.

STR – Stephen Mullen – CAMBUSLANG FA

A hatrick hero in our game against queens park, absolutely ruthless infront of goal.

STR – Chrissy Shields – PARK SPORTS PROJECT

had to play 3 different positions on Saturday and didn’t let it affect him. Drove the team forward to victory with 10 men.

STR – Vlad Mendes – PARK SPORTS PROJECT

The cool calm collected attacking midfielder’s quality shone through even on a terrible surface.

STR – Rizwan – BURNHILL FC

Five goals from Burnhill’s in-form frontman, with a delightful direct freekick arguably the pick of the bunch. Rizwan’s hold-up play, powerful running, and clincal finishing made him a handful for his opponents all game.

Keep the nominations coming — the clubs know best who stood out. Your feedback keeps Squad of the Week sharp and useful every Saturday. 💪⚽
