Picked on impact, level, and match-changing moments — not just stats.
SQUAD OF THE WEEK — picked on impact, level, and match-changing moments.
This isn’t a stats dump. We lean on club nominations and coach detail, then reward the players who changed the flow of a game — saves at 1–0, tackles on the break, pressure in midfield, finishes under heat. If it swung points, it counts.
SQUAD OF THE WEEK

Goalkeepers picked for match-saving stops, box control, and clean handling under pressure.

Josh made a few crucial saves throughout the game, including a penalty in the last minute of the game to win the team all 3 points.

Mark pulled off a few great saves in the first half including one of the best saves I’ve seen live to keep it at 1-0.

Defenders chosen for shutting doors, winning duels, leading lines, and big blocks when it mattered.
DEF – Bryan Millar – Rosebank United
Another solid display from Bryan in the centre of defence. One of our most consistent performers and he was excellent yet again.

DEF – Jay McKay – Rutherglen Glencairn AFC

Motm performance from Jay kept corinthians forward line quiet the whole game boys a level above brn outstanding since hes. Came on board 🤝
DEF – Craig Walker – Knightswood AFC

Been shifted to RB for us the last few weeks and has been excellent. Didn’t put a foot wrong on Saturday and showed his quality on the ball.
DEF – Neil Connelly – Camby FA

neil has been very consistent in his performances last few weeks and played really well.
DEF – Mintet – Glasgow Ansar

The big man showed his experience at the back, dealt with everything that he came up against and kept the defence organised throughout
DEF – Paddy Boyle – Kings Park United

We weren’t anywhere near our best at the weekend going forwards so it was important to keep it tight at the other end. Paddy was excellent in ensuring we did that. He’s made a brilliant start to the season.
DEF – Finlay Anderson – Glasgow Island

Finlay would header a bag of cement. Powerhouse performance at the back.
DEF – Luke McInally- Woodbank FC

A player who came to us a few short weeks ago and has instantly settled in to the squad. On Saturday he was asked to play a couple of unfamiliar positions due to the team being so threadbare through injuries and suspensions and stood out like a sore thumb and almost single handedly dragged us back into the game to snatch a more than deserved point.
DEF – Thomas McKay – Banknock FC

Playing as the middle centre back in a new back 3 formation Thomas stopped everything that came to him and his distribution was amazing
DEF – Kieran Simmons – Netherton AFC

left back first game back in few months and played well against a strong side.
DEF – Calvin Neill – Port Glasgow BC

Calvin produced a solid defensive performance on saturday to help the team to a massive three points.
DEF – David Rowan – Toryglen Thistle

battled with the strong number 9 and won the fight by shutting him out and winning the game.
DEF – Alex Rae – Banknock FC

Playing left wing back not only did he score a goal of the season contender, his defensive performance was outstanding also
DEF – Muir Kirkwood – Westhill United

Muir done brilliant first half, really caused problems for the opposition. Quieter 2nd half but bagged himself an assist.
DEF – Sam Gove – RIVER NEVIS

Scored but also didn’t put a foot wrong the whole game. Imperious
DEF – John Rowan – Toryglen Thistle

was outstanding defensively along side his brother, he controlled the back line brilliantly and was vital in closing out the number 9

Midfielders selected for control, ball-wins, and line-breaking play that turned defence into goals.
MID – Andy McGurk – River Nevis

Scored and assisted. Relentless up and down the wing.
MID – Fraser Scott- Toryglen Thistle

Fraser was arguably motm, was first into every single tackle, constantly breaking up the play and starting toryglens attacks
MID – Sam Stevenson – Rosebank United

Produced the moments of quality that counted during the match on a tricky pitch. Excellent run and cross for the first goal and a composed finish for the 3rd to settle the match.
MID – Tony Quinn – Third Lanark

A solid performance from the hard working midfield man today, Tony put himself about and put in a top performance.
MID – Jamie macleod – Rutherglen Glencairn AFC

Jmac is a class act on the ball always wants it never scared to take it under pressure and his ability is 2nd to none 👏
MID – Aiden Gallacher – PSP

another two goals for the big man and he’s going from strength to strength. Must be a nightmare for defenders.
MID – Mark Johnston – Camby FA

on his first start he has scored 2 goals and also got a man of the match performance. Solid in the tackle and very powerful going forward.
MID – Crawford Kenney – Glasgow Island

Crawford does a lot of the unsung dirty work but he is more than capable of some silky stuff, too. Weighs in with goals from midfield – another two at the weekend.
MID – Zack Conner – Woodbank FC

Mr reliable who has consistently been working away in the background to be a better player and some weeks it just clicks. Saturday he was another player thrown into unfamiliar places and finished the game at right centre back when we changed shape and formation to get us further up the park. Solid 8 out of 10
MID – Chrissy Shields – PSP

his dynamism is so important to the team and so it proved with his relentless pressing and winning the ball back twice to set up two first half goals
MID – Mo Benghellabe – Greater Croftpark Rose

Mo was superb on the day and was very unfortunate to be on the loosing team, The big man scored a goal of the week contender.
MID – Danny – BURNHILL FC

Superb performance in CM, winning duel after duel and sweeping things up. Unlucky to be on the losing side.

Forwards rewarded for decisive goals, ruthless finishing, and movement that opens the pitch.
STR – Leroy Smith – Rutherglen Glencairn AFC

Another 2 goals for the young fella another good performance from him standard 👍
STR – Anton Di Cristina – Glasgow Island

so important to the team on that left side. Anton was our most potent threat on Saturday.
STR – Fraser Moreton – Busby AFC

Fraser has slowly been coming back from injury and he got himself back on the score sheet
STR – Cal Connolly – CORINTHIANS

Cal is a new signing and had an excellent game for us last week. He has pace and a good touch and worked very well with Ryan Murney – as well as assisting the midfield and defence. His work rate was impressive against a good Rutherglen Glencairn team. He scored one and was unlucky not to have made it two.
STR – Sean Balfour – Kings Park United

Balf now has 4 goals in his 4 games. Ice cool to slot away the penalty that made the difference in the end.
STR – Maaz – Glasgow Ansar

Maz scored another 2 goals on Saturday v GCR. He also put in a shift when he was dropped deeper for the last 20 mins
STR – Ajiri – Nethercraigs

STR – Kyle MacDonald – Westhill United

four goals for Kyle on Saturday, all in the box a real strikers performance.
STR – Connor Doughty – Westhill United

Connor got an assist and the winning goal and scenes erupted as he helped the team to a massive three points.
STR – Patrick Foxworthy – Busby AFC

Foxy was again superb on sat scoring a hat trick and helping the team win a massive three points.
STR – Ross Macdougall – Knightswood AFC

Another 2 goals from the skipper leading the line. Bullied the opposition defence all game.
STR – Gav Innes – QUEENS PARK SFC

Were bare bones so a left back shoved up front who scored our only goal and was our best player as a lone striker.
STR – Kieran Redmond – Rossvale Huntershill

Another week and an another goal for the talented attacking player.
So who made Hugh Dunnit’s GCFA Team of the Week?
As ever, it’s a line-up that’s bound to spark a few arguments — bold, unfiltered, and built from the week’s Squad of the Week nominations. Hugh’s gone for his trademark 2-4-4, rewarding players who turned matches, not those who just took part.
Click below to see the full team, his picks, and a few opinions you’ll probably disagree with.

Hugh Dunnit: GCFA Team of the Week — No Passengers in a 2–4–4

A big thank you to every club who takes the time to nominate players properly each week.
Those small bits of detail — who scored, who grafted, who made the difference — are what make the Squad of the Week what it is.
We’ll keep refining how it runs and how it’s presented, but the aim stays the same: fair, consistent recognition for the players who change matches. Keep the nominations coming, keep the feedback honest, and we’ll keep raising the standard together.
