The Conference league has already delivered drama, goals and big moments — and September belonged to one player whose influence couldn’t be ignored.

September was such a good month for one Cambuslang FA player in particular and our winner announced today played a big part in their team having a good month

An excellent September personally means Cambuslang FA midfielder Steven Christie walks away with the Conference League Player of the Month award.

Christie is a top quality Midfielder who leads his team by example on the park. He gives his team such an outlet and never hides from taking the ball.

Midfielders don’t always get the recognition they deserve. While strikers grab headlines with goals and defenders with last-ditch tackles, it’s often the players in the middle of the park who quietly control the rhythm of the game.

This month, however, there has been no ignoring Steven Christie. His performances have been superb, earning him the well-deserved September Player of the Month award.

The Cambuslang manager Ryan Carmichael will be delighted that his midfielder has returned to form and getting himself noticed regularly on a Saturday morning.

When Steven is in the kind of form he has been in throughout September then he will make Cambuslang FA a difficult team to stop.

THE GAFFER

We caught up with his gaffer Ryan Carmichael who said.

“I’m absolutely delighted for Steven Christle. He’s been the heartbeat of this team all month — keeps the ball moving, puts in the hard tackles, and never stops running. People sometimes only notice the goalscorers, but Steven’s the one who makes everything tick in the middle of the park.

The lads feed off his energy. For me, this award just proves what we already knew: he’s been outstanding, and he deserves every bit of recognition.

Hopefully he can keep this form going because he sets the standard for the rest of the squad.”
