The GDSFC Championship fixture featured a highly anticipated matchup between the league’s top two competing teams.
The game, held at the Scotstoun Sports Centre, was widely regarded as a premiere fixture of the weekend.

A hard-fought encounter at Scotstoun saw Kelburne AFC edge past Glasgow Diverse with a narrow 1-0 victory in the GDSFC Championship.
The first half was a cagey affair, with both sides working hard but creating little in the way of clear-cut opportunities.
Possession was shared evenly, though the referee drew plenty of attention from both benches and for some contentious decisions but in reality he had a decent first half.
sightings of the goal were limited to half-chances, with neither goalkeeper seriously tested – though both looked assured when called upon.

Kelburne began the second half brightly and should have taken the lead when a free header at the back post was sent over the cross bar. At the other end, Diverse responded with a well-worked short corner that forced an excellent stop from the Kelburne keeper, before another effort deflected narrowly over the bar.

The breakthrough came towards the end of the half when Kelburne were awarded a debatable free-kick on the edge of the box.
Their midfielder stepped up and delivered a moment of real quality, curling the ball into the top corner beyond the helpless Diverse goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
Chasing the game, Glasgow Diverse went direct in search of an equaliser, piling pressure on the Kelburne defence with long balls and set pieces. However, Kelburne’s backline held firm, with their goalkeeper continuing to impress and command his area.
Despite Diverse’s late push, Kelburne saw the game out to claim all three points. The victory, grounded in resilience and a touch of quality from a set piece, keeps them firmly in the mix in the Championship race.
