Manager Keith

How do you reflect on today’s result?
It was a hard fought victory. They made it really difficult for us to play but all the boys dug deep to go and get a result. There were 1 or 2 starting today and on the bench that have been shelved with long term injuries and came back and didn’t look out of place at all

What pleased you most about the performance?
The dig, it wasn’t the prettiest of games but the boys ground out the result and that’s so important in a league campaign.

Any particular players or moments that stood out?
Gary Hannah, first start this season back from injury
Jonnie dougall, first start this season back from injury
Martin wojtczak, Reece Gavin all excellent
Ross McLaughlin scored the winner making a comeback after being out for a season

What was the key turning point in the match?

I don’t think there was a particular turning point as it was a fairly even game.

How does this result set you up for the weeks ahead?
It will be a big boost after a tough loss last weekend.

One message you’d like to share with your squad after this big win ?
Keep pushing forward

Your thoughts on the win today?

Honestly, one of my favourite wins in a Kelburne shirt. The team really battled it out against a good side and an incredible late goal to seal the win

Who stood out for you?

Martin Wojtczak. An absolute all-round solid performance from the big man at centre back

What’s next for the team?

Charge on and keep the winning momentum in the league. Hopefully get a half decent cup run too

Joshua Carmichael – center forward

Your thoughts on the win today?

Thought it was a very good win for us, especially after disappointment in the cup last week. Maybe not our best performance and didn’t create as much as we usually do but a satisfying performance where everyone played their part and dug in against tough opponents.

Who stood out for you?

All in all I think everyone played their part, Reece and Martin were solid at the back. But what stood out for me was 3 boys who are just returning from long injuries and all 3 played excellent. Rosco gets the goal, Jonnie was solid for 60 minutes and Gary played 90 minutes in midfield and didn’t put a foot wrong.

What’s next for the team?

Hopefully just build on a perfect start in the league. Our talisman Jojo is back from suspension as of next week so that will only improve us and kick us on again.

Joshua Carmichael – center forward

✍️ Footy Focus note: Kelburne’s win had a clear theme — resilience and comebacks. With long-term absentees returning and making an instant impact, they’ll take huge belief into the next stretch of their campaign.
