Vale kept their momentum rolling with another statement result — a hard-fought win over Clydebank that underlined their growing confidence in the GDSFC.

How do you reflect on today’s result?

I think for continuing an unbeaten run against a well establish team like Clydebank really shows how far we’ve come since integrating into this new format within the GDSFC. The squad we were up against was well oiled and and moved the ball well and really tested us to show our quality

What pleased you most about the performance?

To be able to seal out a performance like that and come away with a clean sheet is something we’ve really struggled with this season so I’m glad we were able to see the game out like that, Again a really exciting game for us in the build up to today and seeing the result out without conceding is amazing to see.

Any particular players or moments that stood out?

Personally for me Ryan Hendry was a brick wall at the back today he also showed his ability to be able to play out from the back and seal out opponents trying to catch him on the press. He’s overall an amazing talent to watch and such a lovely guy.

What was the key turning point in the match?

Breaking the deadlock went a long way, it was a nail biting 20/30mins to watch but seeing the ball eventually find the net really made that difference today, both teams changed things up and the game seemed to go our way after that.

How does this result set you up for the weeks ahead?

It certainly gives us a level to maintain, we have shown what we are capable of and now need to show the consistency of level throughout the season never mind the next couple of weeks, we now also have a run of away games and no longer have any games on grass until the season comes to a close which I think will definitely be our time to show our quality out of mountblow

One message you’d like to share with your squad after this big win ?

I think they are a merit to themselves they have really shown what induviduals are capable of when the get together as a TEAM and work for the bigger picture, some people may not agree amongst themselves but the results really do show what teamwork is capable of bringing to a fairly fresh squad.

Ross Smith – Vice Captain

Your thoughts on the win today?

Good competitive game and very end to end at times but stuck together and defended really well I thought. Starting to build a good structure and core to team.

Who stood out for you?

2 Declan the goalkeeper was very impressive and commanded his area well, stopped a lot of Clydebank attacks.

What’s next for the team?.

Continuing this unbeaten run and hopefully putting ourselves in contention for the league tiltle come the winter break.

Gavin Quinn – Coach

Your thoughts on the win today?

Wasn’t our best game of the season but everyone did their part for the team feel we could have payed move through the middle to get better chances but really happy with the result

Who stood out for you?

David & the back 4 all unbelievable and the subs came on and did exactly what we needed them to do.

What’s next for the team?.

To keep up this run and not drop points

This was more than just three points — it was a marker. Vale know what level they’ve set, and now the task is holding it week after week. Our roving reporter turned up too late for photos on the day, but still caught up with Vale AFC to bring you the inside verdict .
