Strathclyde United

The Confidence these two victories have brought to the club is undeniable the squad looks much sharper, and the togetherness both on and off the pitch has been clear for all to see. Momentum is with strathclyde but the question is can they keep it going.

First Half

The match got off to the worst possible start for Strathy as sloppy play gifted Glasgow Saints the opener inside the first five minutes of play. The Saints were buzzing to get off to such a fast start. 1-0 Saints !!!!

Heads didn’t drop, though, and the boys fought back. A quick corner found Kieran, who powered home a bullet header to level things up.

Controversy followed as Saints regained the lead, capitalising on what looked like a clear foul on the Strathclyde centre-half, the challenge was waved away by the referee and the ball was put in the back of the net. 2-1 Saints !!

At 2–1 down, Strathclyde United were forced to dig in and they were rewarded just before the half time break when Jay reacted quickest to a rebound, slotting in an easy tap-in to level the scores. 2-2 !!!!

Strathclyde United

The second half started with Strathy on the front foot, sensing the game was there to be won. A slick passing move opened space for Calvin, who fired home from a tight angle to put Strathclyde into the lead. 3–2 Strathy !!!!

Both sides pushed hard, with penalty appeals and offside shouts ringing out, but the breakthrough came from Kenzie – producing a moment of magic. Picking his spot, he unleashed a thunderous strike that rattled the bar before nestling in the top corner. 4-2 Stathy !!!

That strike was pure class from Kenzie and it gave his team the breathing space they needed, and wild celebrations followed.

But the game was far from over. With ten minutes left, assistant manager Speirsy – drafted in at centre-half – sent a long ball back to the keeper. The movement on it was wicked, and it looped cruelly into our own net. An own goal to remember, and suddenly it was 4–3 !!!

The final minutes were backs-to-the-wall stuff as Saints threw everything forward. Strathclyde held firm, with wee Tony providing the outlet up front to relieve the pressure. After what felt like an eternity, the referee finally blew for full-time.

Strathclyde made it three wins on the bounce in September with a thrilling 4–3 victory over league leaders Glasgow Saints.

Three wins in a row and performance full of grit, determination, and no shortage of drama, would you expect anything less from Strathclyde United.
