Championship side Third Lanark AFC have been getting to grips with life in the GCFA, and both manager Duncy McIntyre and his captain offered honest reflections.

From the challenge of bedding into a new league to the drive for silverware, both men were clear: results matter, standards matter, and they’ll settle for nothing less than winning.

How hard has it been starting Your new adventure and competing in the GCFA ?
no different to any other season in any other league
What are the main differences between the GCFA and the previous league you guys played in before?
so far the set up of fixtures compared to our last league has been more organised resulting in a more fair format for all teams
Even though last Saturday’s result against Glasgow Ansar didnt see you going home with three points, what positives are you taking from the performance?
As a team we dont take positives from anything less than 3 points
How have the players responded to competing in national or regional cups so early in your journey — has it been worthwhile?

All competitions are worth while for a club like ours and the players always respond in a positive manner but as a team we are disappointed with our results so far
What has been the most memorable match of the season so far.
Scottish cup replay 7-1 as its the only game so far we’ve scored goals to match the number of chances created
Looking ahead, what are your hopes for the rest of the season as you continue building the club?
hopes going forward are that my players are challenging for silverware on all fronts
Club CAPTAIN
Danny O’Brian

What’s it been like joining a brand new league in the GCFA this season?
It’s been refreshing and challenging as is always the case coming up against new and different types of opponents
What do you see as the differences between the leagues?
the planning and communication from league representative via messages, phone calls etc. it’s all very well thought out which makes it easier for teams to plan moving forward
Even though last Saturday’s result against Glasgow Ansar didnt see you going home with three points, what positives are you taking from your own performance or the team’s?

just echoing what the gaffer said above, disappointed not getting 3 points as felt we did enough during the game to win. Caught out last 10 mins so maybe if anything some resilience shown to get out with a point as game was getting away from us despite being so comfortable for a large period
Who has been the most impressive team you have played so far ?
probably ansar just due to their work rate and willingness to battle for each other
Looking ahead, what do you hope the squad can achieve together this season?
again just echoing what the manager says above, looking to win any competition we enter is always the aim. league is bread and butter in any season, so that has to be a priority in my opinion

The voices from Cathkin Park cut straight to the point — no excuses, just ambition. It’s another reminder that amateur football in the GCFA is as raw and competitive as it comes. Thanks to the Third Lanark manager and captain for sharing their views.
