A fantastic result from Glasgow Island in an extremely open affair really caught our roving reporters eye.

This result is a big win for Glasgow Island and could be the catalyst for a fresh start to the season after a stuttering start from the Premier big boys.

This big result moves Glasgow Island up the league table and should give them the much needed confidence boost that was required.

Everyone GCFA related knows that Glasgow Island are a top team who can beat anyone at any moment, They just need to get their big game players on the park more often.

Glasgow Island manager Murdo Graham chatted to our roving reporter

I was really impressed with our performance on Saturday – it has been a hard opening to the season with a couple of players stepping back and another couple of what look like long term injuries sustained in the first game back.

The planets aligned last week and we were able to field a couple of new signings who showed up well. Clydebank have undoubtedly been a bogey team for us – I think we had only beaten them once in six previous outings so to win convincingly was great. We definitely got away with one in the second half that would have made the score 2-2 – I won’t say any more but I’m sure anyone who was there will know what I am talking about! That might have made things a little more difficult but sometimes these things go in your favour, sometimes not.

Archie and Zander were on fire, both grabbing hat tricks and it was good to see big Craig McKeegan get his first for us and even bigger Cammy Hill helping himself to a goal. The challenge now is to sustain that level of performance going forward.

Clydebank gave us a doing at the end of last season – sometimes you just have to take it on the chin and I’m sure they’ll make life as difficult as usual next time we meet. They’ve got too many good players not to bounce back.

🔥GCFA football doesn’t do half-measures, and Island’s resurgence proves it. While the “big” leagues churn out sterile PR, the GCFA serves up raw, unpredictable football every Saturday morning — and we’ll keep showing it off.
