What promised to be a routine afternoon for league leaders Glasgow Ansar turned into a dramatic contest full of twists, stunning goals and late drama. Bhatti’s free-kick magic set the tone, but it was the impact of the substitutes that defined a match which kept supporters on edge until the final whistle.
Match Report: Third Lanark V Glasgow Ansar

Top-of-the-table Glasgow Ansar travelled to face Third Lanark brimming with confidence, but a pulsating contest ended honours even in a six-goal thriller.

Ansar started on the front foot and took a deserved lead through a moment of pure quality. Free-kick specialist Bhatti delivered what will surely be an early contender for goal of the season – a sublime strike bent around the wall and into the top corner.

Lanark, however, levelled against the run of play. A long ball unsettled the Ansar defence, and while stand-in goalkeeper Nugy did well to make the initial save, the rebound was tucked away. Moments later, the hosts edged in front from a set-piece, pouncing on a ricochet after Nugy’s brave stop. Their momentum grew, and before the interval, Lanark made it 3–1, punishing Ansar on the counter with a well-taken finish from a cut-back.

Ansar emerged after the break determined to respond, and their substitutes transformed the game. Hassan, introduced from the bench, latched onto a clever pass from Maaz, rounded the goalkeeper, and coolly finished to halve the deficit. Soon after, another substitute, Aqib, flicked a delightful header into the path of Maaz, who rifled home the equaliser.

The closing stages were frantic, with both sides rattling the woodwork. Ansar came within inches of a dramatic stoppage-time winner, but ultimately had to settle for a point – a result that keeps them unbeaten and still sitting proudly at the summit.
