Quinn believes the fresh additions will add both quality and experience to his squad, strengthening Glencairn’s push for success this season.

“We’re thrilled to welcome both players into the club. Each brings something unique to the team, and I’ve no doubt they’ll play a big part in what we’re looking to achieve this year,” Quinn said.

QUEENIE ARRIVES WITH FOOTBALLING BRAIN TO MATCH HIS HEART

Rutherglen have secured the signature of James Queen, affectionately known as Queenie, following his departure from Southsea at the end of last season.

While he admits the legs may not be what they once were, Queenie’s sharp football brain and natural ability are “second to none.” The experienced wee man is set to bring both guile and grit to the squad as MTG gear up for another big campaign.

MCKAY RETURNS WITH EXPERIENCE AND AMBITION

The club has also added Jay McKay, who rejoins the game after a brief spell out, having spent the majority of his career across the juniors and seniors.

McKay’s know-how and leadership are expected to prove invaluable in the push for silverware this season. And in true MTG spirit, he’s promised that if the team lift a trophy, he’ll somehow squeeze in a tiny MTG tattoo on his already-covered body.

⚫️⚪️ With James “Queenie” Queen bringing his footballing brain and Jay McKay adding invaluable experience, manager Thomas Quinn has every reason to be optimistic. The new season promises excitement, ambition, and a Glencairn side ready to chase down silverware.

The message is clear: Rutherglen Glencairn aren’t here to make up the numbers. With the Premiership already stacked with contenders, this statement of intent raises the stakes even higher. If the league wasn’t competitive enough, Glencairn’s business has just cranked it up another notch. ✍️ By Ann O’nymous, Footy Focus Roving Reporter
