📋 Quickfire Questions – Post-Match
Rutherglen Glencairn AFC are making a habit of big cup results. Fresh from another strong display, they got the better of East Kilbride — a side that had knocked them out of the Scottish last year. This time, the black-and-white stripes had the final say.

1 very proud of the boys and buzzing for them tbh they were excellent listen ek are a good side who beat us in Scottish last year so it’s a big win for the boys 100%
Was there a turning point in the game that, in your eyes, swung it your way?
2 Yes getting the 3rd goal early in 2nd half after weathering some early ek pressure it made us comfortable in the game and meant we could sit in and hurt them in the counter which we done really well and should have scored at least a cpl more
Which player or moment really stood out as the difference today?
Jay mckay by a mile last year ekrr front 2 completely bullied us and we’re the difference in the game Jay and Ross didn’t give them a sniff all game until last 10 15 when we had to bring Jay off injured he was outstanding.

How did you prepare the team for a fixture of this size, and did the lads deliver what you asked of them?
I just asked the boys to be confident and aggressive in there press at the right time and don’t be scared to play our football but use our pace on the wings when needed and get them turned which we did and they couldn’t live with us 1st half especially
Looking at your season so far, what does this result mean for your season ambitions?
listen its no secret me n management team along with the players want to win the league title but going far in the cups is something we have done consistently since taking over and ye canny beat a cup run whether it be in the domestic cups or the national comps
Good away days can always bring the team spirit to another level which can only be a good thing 😂🤝

Cup wins like this don’t just tick off another round — they send a message. The GCFA Premier league challengers are carrying their fight beyond league lines, and Glencairn’s showing in the West proves it. The road ahead will be tough, but they look more than ready for the journey.

“Glencairn in the West, Woodbank in Ayrshire — everywhere you look this season, GCFA sides are stepping up and proving a point. Don’t tell me Saturday morning football is second best. These clubs are historic, hungry, and thriving like never before. Week after week, they’re showing the whole of Scotland what GCFA football is really about.”
