The verdict’s in and, as always, a few noses will be out of joint. Hugh Dunnit doesn’t hand out freebies — only the lads who set the standard make the cut. If you think you should be here, prove it next Saturday.

Hugh Dunnits’s Team of the Week:

#TeamOfTheWeek #FootyFocus

GK – Jack McLennan – GLASGOW ISLAND

The opposition couldn’t beat him in 90 mins. Saved a pen in the shoot out as well so more than did his job on the day.

DEF – Neil – BURNHILL FC

A solid performance from the strong centre back today, Neil showed his quality and experience to help the team to a fantastic victory over Queens Park SFC.

DEF – John Rowan – TORYGLEN THISTLE

John controlled the back line great and kept the Clydebank no9 quiet. Another clean sheet and solid performance from the big defender.

DEF – Eamon Moy – RHU COLTS

Another solid game for Eamon, moved to the RB position from his usual spot on the opposite side he never put a foot wrong.

MID – Greg McKay – BUSBY AFC

Greg returns to the starting lineup after about his 5th holiday this year good to have him back and looking at his best.

MID – Liam McGeachy – SOUTHSIDE UNITED

Two headers and another good performance to continue his good start to the season , what he gives us in both boxes can be invaluable , one of the leaders in dressing room too and hopefully he can keep his form up.

MID – Thomas Halleran – CORINTHIANS

Thomas has been one of the best midfield players in the league for the past 2 seasons. On Saturday he was on a different level and scored 2 absolute screamers. He was man of the match.

MID – Kieran Redmond – ROSSVALE HUNTERSHILL

Kieran Redmond the goal scoring Huntershill winger scored another two goals on Saturday against Knightswood AFC. Redders is on fire just now and is unplayable when he’s like this.

The Striker was in excellent form on Saturday and scored yet another hat trick, Kyle is proving he is one of the best strikers in the league.

STR – Volodymyr Kinakh – BISHOPTON FC

Vlod was excellent especially 2nd half his powerful running was rewarded with 2 well taking goals deserving of man of the match

MANAGER – Brian Hay – Woodbank FC

On Saturday, Brian’s tactical nous and perfect team selection was a major reason his Woodbank team almost produced a big GCFA shock.

Brian and his trusty right hand man Andy McCallion are in the midst of overseeing a very much improved Woodbank FC team.

So there it is. Eleven names etched into this week’s roll of honour, and if that stings — good. Football’s not about comfort, it’s about standards, and these lads set the bar.

To the rest? You know where to find me. Behind the goal, notebook in hand, waiting for the next meltdown to fuel my column. Keep the excuses — I deal in performances, not pity.
