“The GCFA is thriving — and Quickfire is where the managers’ voices are heard loudest.”

After Saturday’s impressive win, we caught up with the Bishopton FC manager David Callaghan to hear their thoughts on the performance, standout players, and what’s next for the squad.

How did it feel to get the win on Saturday ?
Saturdays result was very pleasing the boys worked hard to comeback from a goal behind to secure a 3-1 victory.
At what point in the game did you believe the result was in your hands?
You can never right Clydeside off they are a dangerous team it wasn’t until the 3rd goal went in with only a few minutes remaining. I thought we had done enough to get the win and see the game out.

Man of the match was volodymyr Kinakh. Vlod scored two but his overall play was excellent as well he constantly puts defenders under pressure and took his goals well.

Do you see this result as the spark to kick-start your campaign?
The boys are on a decent run the now but it’s about trying to keep the momentum going and working hard at training and we know you need to be at your best in every game as the premier league is very tough.
What’s been the toughest challenge in guiding the team through the early weeks?
We didn’t have a great pre season in all honesty, like all other teams in the first few weeks of the season you need to try manage boys going away on holidays, weddings and everything else. It’s hard to get a consistent 11.
who has been the heartbeat of your squad so far this season?
The skipper Donza leads by example. We have signed a few new players as well and Ethan has found himself back enjoying football and scoring goals.

And finally — who or what comes next for you and the team?
The old cliche, work hard and try get 3 points every Saturday. Would love to see us go on a cup run. Easier said than done.
Saturday mornings in the GCFA are never short on storylines — and Quickfire makes sure the important voices behind the touchline are heard.
