After weeks of frustration, Strathclyde finally found relief in the storm — grinding out a first victory that meant more than just three points.
Our roving reporter braved the elements for a GDSFC Division Two showdown that had “routine” written all over it: a top-half side up against a team stuck near the bottom. But football never sticks to the script. In consistent sheets of rain, Strathclyde ripped up the form book with a performance full of grit and spirit — sealing not just a shock win, but their first victory in what felt like forever.
Here we catch up with Strathclyde Utd manager David Devlin

How did it feel to get the win on Sunday?
What a relief best sleep I’ve had on a Sunday night in months 🤣
At what point in the game did you believe the result was in your hands?
Honestly it’s been that long since we got a competitive win i was still nervous as hell in the last minutes being only 2-1 up.
Who was your Man of the Match, and who has been the heartbeat of your squad so far this season?
Personally I had 3 that done unreal in the game.

Jamie no2 our captain
Young lad but his leadership and attitude outstanding.

Darren no4 (trialist) in at CB done it old school 10/10.

Kenzie no7 that lads engine was full throttle played 80odd minutes and was done in when he came off he’s a baller.

However Max No10 was given MOTM by match day referee.
Do you see this result as the spark to kick-start your campaign?
Won’t get ahead of ourselves the target was 3 points (as always) and we got that eventually now to climb the table and hopefully be in a decent position before Xmas hits.
What’s been the toughest challenge in guiding the team through the early weeks?
Keeping the lads focused on training tough to get lads up for it when you’ve been losing so much but we’ve managed it well enough so far.
And finally — who or what comes next for you and the team?
And finally — who or what comes next for you and the team?
Lomond Thistle are next up & we will try to make it 2 on the bounce setting up the same way as Sunday

Jamie McNab
team Capitan
What did that win mean for you and the team?
The win meant a lot as it was my first win as captain, also it was massive for the team as it is something we have been working hard towards since pre season and the efforts finally paying off.
Who stood out most on the day (and who’s been driving the squad this season)?
Our striker Max he worked his socks off pressing, winning headers, scoring and even dropping in defending when needed he’s been massive for us this season.
What’s next for you and the team after this result?
What’s next for the team is pushing for another win in the next game, keep pushing ourselves as a squad and keep the momentum rolling
