After a tough start to the season, Garrison finally clicked into gear on Sunday. Their win over Cambusnethan felt like more than three points — it looked like a turning point. Managers Ben and Craig believe their squad has found the spark to push on, and they shared their thoughts with Footy Focus.

Meet the duo driving Garrison forward — Ben and Craig, a partnership built on pressing high, countering quick, and plenty of graft.

How did it feel to get the win on Sunday?

Ben – Sunday was massive in two ways, firstly the boys needing to get a win for the league and secondly, Sunday showed what we as a team can do press high and counter quick

Craig – The boys deserved that win after the efforts and hard work me and Ben have seen since the start of the season, as the weeks go on this feeling will only become natural to the squad

At what point in the game did you believe the result was in your hands?

Ben – Once we got the equaliser before half time I kinda knew the boys would kick on and start to feel more comfortable during the second half. After the second goal went in it was all about the boys figuring it out themselves and seeing the game out ! Quite unfortunate for the third thought the keeper done well during the game. These things happen and luckily it went in our favour 😅

Craig – To be honest me personally I was very confident going into the game, I’ve always liked how cambusnethan apply themselves and how they set up, it’s the way you should be playing football but after a fantastic session on Thursday and atmosphere pre game, we knew we had enough quality to get that result playing our way

Who was your Man of the Match, and who has been the heartbeat of your squad so far this season?

Ben – there could be a few tbf but has to go to Deano make shift lb/cb/rb Mr Utility man, could probs do a shift anywhere 😆😆

Craig – It could honestly be a number of boys on the park but Deano was exceptional, last minute change into that centre back role but produced a fantastic performance

Do you see this result as the spark to kick-start your campaign?

Ben – Honestly feel the boys have been putting the work in last few weeks and that result has cemented into a lot of boys that we can go and challenge good teams our way. All that needs worked on is the finishing hahaha.

Craig – This result has been coming over the last 3/4 games, the performances have been improving week by week but we just couldn’t get that result we deserved, Sunday changed that and we now look ahead to the cup fixture

And finally — who or what comes next for you and the team?

Ben – To focus week by week, game by game.

Craig – We take each game as it comes, Win, celebrate then move on to the next
