Hugh Dunnits’s Team of the Week:
Every week, managers, players, and half the touchlines mutter the same thing: “Who decides these teams anyway?” Well, it’s me — Hugh Dunnit — and I don’t just decide, I lay it down like a sledgehammer.
No sugar-coating, no half measures. I’m not here to hand out sympathy spots. If you didn’t make the cut, maybe try harder next Saturday.
This is the Team of the Week. Argue all you like — I’ll be the one laughing with the clipboard while you’re raging in the WhatsApp group.

GK – Gordon Paton – RIVER NEVIS

“their new ‘keeper deserves it, for making some big saves at 0-0. A big moment for him, just a few weeks after joining the club.”
DEF – Jordan Kennedy – CORINTHIANS

“The leader seems to have picked up where he left off last season and produced another fantastic performance. Jordan helped his team beat their bitter rivals away from home.
DEF – Richard Henry – RHU COLTS

“I had to pick at least one Rhu Colts player after they came from behind to beat Greater Croftpark Rose, and Henry epitomised their performance with his experience and power.”
DEF – Parahant – Glasgow ANSAR

“The main man at the back for Glasgow Ansar helped to keep the DTI AFC ‘ front three quiet, and also played his part in starting many of the clubs attacks.#ScottishAmateurFootball #Grassroots
MID – Dylan Roberts – QUEENS PARK SFC

He won’t show up on stats but on the pitch on the day against Bearsden AFC Roberts was the best player by a country mile. A thorn in Bearsden’ side all day, causing all sorts of problems. If other players’ finishing was better, he could have had more assists. A really good player who looks like he’s flying.
MID – Kieran Traynor – CAMBY MILAN

“Traynor was everywhere on Saturday! He found lost of space to get on the ball and was superb at driving forward to help create attacks! Off the ball he was tenacious as always and intercepting anything coming through the middle.”
MID – Aiden Gallagher – PARK SPORTS PROJECT

“Carried a threat to Corinthians with his runs into the box from midfield, His Dynamic running made him a hard man for Corinthians to pin down.”
MID – Dean Bates – ROSSVALE HUNTERSHILL

“Dean was solid in the centre of the park and put in a fantastic shift covering every blade og grass. The Dynamic midfielder also scored a cracking goal to cap off a top performance.”

STR – Maaz Malik – GLASGOW ANSAR

“It’s great to see Maz back on the pitch as the striker came on at half time and scored three goals to put the game to bed and give Glasgow Ansar their first three points of the season.
STR – Hayden McCormack – WOODBANK FC

“The match winner stood up when his team really needed him. Hayden scored two fantastic free kicks and sent his on the way to victory and into the next round of the Bunrigh cup.”
STR – Lennon McGuinness – NETHERTON FC

“He’s had a brilliant start to the season for his club in their new Glasgow Colleges Football Association adventure.. Scored a hat trick and was simply unplayable at times.”

MANAGER – JONNY BOYLE – CORINTHIANS

“After all the talk about Park Sports Project having the strongest defence in the league, Boyle already seems to have found a solution. His side blasted three goals past keeper Jonny Clark at ibrox palace of Arts, His team seem to have the attacking players to win matches for them, such as Halleran and Ryan Murney.”

So there it is. Eleven names etched into this week’s roll of honour, and if that stings — good. Football’s not about comfort, it’s about standards, and these lads set the bar.
To the rest? You know where to find me. Behind the goal, notebook in hand, waiting for the next meltdown to fuel my column. Keep the excuses — I deal in performances, not pity.
