Opening day in the Conference brought fireworks — and one side wasted no time laying down a marker. A 3–0 victory for Westhill, built on discipline, togetherness, and a ruthless edge, sent shockwaves through the early table.

Kicking off a new season feature — our first post-game interview of the campaign! Expect more from across all 3 leagues each week as we shine a light on the managers and players whose graft, standards, and commitment produce the results that light up GCFA football.

What was the game plan going in, and how well do you think the lads stuck to it?

Game plan was to play our game, on the front foot and high. Ultimately we always look to play football but had joy from time to time with the ball over the top so pretty happy with how they approached and applied themselves.

Amateur football has its challenges — how proud are you of the commitment shown by the players today?

Yeah echoing the last answer, we have been a really tight group and we’ve shown a great level of commitment to each other.. we now need to commit to this campaign and look to achieve success!

Opening day gave us plenty to talk about, and this 3–0 will be one of the standout stories. Ruthless in front of goal, organised across the pitch, and already demanding more from themselves — that’s the sign of a side with serious ambition.

A big thanks to the manager for taking the time to share his thoughts straight after such a big win. His honesty and insight are exactly why this new feature adds so much to our coverage. 👊
