Kicking off a new season feature — our first post-game interview of the campaign! Expect more from across all 3 leagues each week as we shine a light on the managers and players whose graft, standards, and commitment produce the results that light up GCFA football.

Relief!! Burnhill have always been the toughest of games, started our campaign last year of with a comfortable 4-1 victory but lost 2-0 just a couple months ago, so relief more than anything to start of with 3 points,
What was the game plan going in, and how well do you think the lads stuck to it? –
Game plan was to play our game, on the front foot and high. Ultimately we always look to play football but had joy from time to time with the ball over the top so pretty happy with how they approached and applied themselves.

You’ve guided this group all season — what makes this squad special for you & could you be involved in any title race? –
Only one game in so won’t get ahead of ourselves, be a long way to go before it’s a title race but we do need to go one game at a time and look to take 3 points every week. The special quality is ultimately togetherness, after a tough defeat we have 16 at training looking to improve, and a few additions of fresh blood this year have kicked us on and gave a new lease of life to some of the familiar faces.
Amateur football has its challenges — how proud are you of the commitment shown by the players today?
Yeah echoing the last answer, we have been a really tight group and we’ve shown a great level of commitment to each other.. we now need to commit to this campaign and look to achieve success!

Top of the table may just be a formality at this stage so the message was clear.. 3 points is great but did we think the performance is the type we want to go through the season with or can it be better, answer was unanimous and we go again Tuesday night back on the training pitch! 👊

Opening day gave us plenty to talk about, and this 3–0 will be one of the standout stories. Ruthless in front of goal, organised across the pitch, and already demanding more from themselves — that’s the sign of a side with serious ambition.
A big thanks to the manager for taking the time to share his thoughts straight after such a big win. His honesty and insight are exactly why this new feature adds so much to our coverage. 👊
