What a way to kick off the season. August produced heroes all over the pitch, and after listening to the sideline chatter, grilling my sources, and ignoring the angry texts about ‘criteria,’ I’ve named my GCFA Championship Team of the Month. Some will say it’s spot on, others will call it daylight robbery – but that’s the beauty of Hugh Dunnit’s picks.

GK – Josh Kane – NETHERTON AFC

DEF – SAKA – GLASGOW ANSAR

DEF – Aidan Hay – WOODBANK

DEF – kevin Harrity- SOUTHSIDE UNITED

MID – Lewis Hobbs – THIRD LANARK

MID – Finlay McPherson – KINGS PARK UTD

MID – Patrick Foxworthy- BUSBY AFC

MID – Gary McAloon – GREATER CROFTPARK ROSE

STR – Liam Kelly – PORT GLASGOW BC

STR – Kyle MacDonald – WESTHILL UNITED

STR – Shaun Wallace – RHU COLTS

Goalkeeper and Defence

Kane, Harrity, Hay & Saka

Kane has had a great start to the season and his performances alone are one of the major reasons why Netherton made it into the Championship.

MIDFIELDERS

Foxworthy, Hobbs, McAloon & McPherson

Foxworthy has been shoehorned into a midfield position to get the boy into the starting line up, His start to the season has been superb.

The midfield magician Gary McAloon has been superb in helping his club Greater Croftpark Rose make it into the Boca Championship. Gary has the ability to score from long range of slip in teamates with superb passes

KP United midfielder Finlay McPherson has been in stunning form as the season kicks off. the midfielder scored a very impressive four goals.

STRIKERS

Kelly, MacDonald & Wallace

The three strikers are scoring machines, if a chance falls to anyone then you want any one of those three boys taking the chance for your team.

Championship Team of the Month is never easy to pick. But one thing’s certain – Saturday mornings are alive with talent, tantrums and touchline debates. Don’t like the criteria? Tough. My sources are louder than yours, and the 11 is locked in. See you in September
