First Game of the Season

Ansar opened their campaign in emphatic fashion with a dominant 8–2 victory over DTI, setting the early pace at the top of the table.

From the first whistle, Ansar looked sharp and took control of the game. The breakthrough came when Hassan whipped in a dangerous cross from the right that forced a DTI own goal.

Shortly after scoring the first goal of the game, Aqib doubled the lead with a superb finish over the advancing goalkeeper, before adding his second with an improvised toe-poke from outside the box. He could have had his hat-trick before half-time but missed a golden one-on-one chance, and was forced off with injury before the break. Ansar, nonetheless, went in 3–0 up at half-time.

DTI briefly found a lifeline early in the second half, capitalising on an error in the Ansar box to pull one back—though Josh in goal will feel he should have done better. Any hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed when Maaz burst through to make it 4–1, before completing a devastating hat-trick with two more clinical finishes.

DTI managed to grab a second, bundling in a scrappy goal after a defensive mix-up, but Ansar’s substitutes made sure of the result late on. Gohar linked up neatly with Osafo, who rounded off the scoring to seal an impressive 8–2 win.

It was a complete team performance from Ansar, with Maaz’s hat-trick and all-round display earning him the Man of the Match award. The result sees Ansar go straight to the top of the table after the opening weekend.
