What was the most enjoyable part of the GCR v RHU Colts match for you to referee?
The manner in which the game was played, both teams wanting to play football which makes it easier for us referees!
Was there a moment — a goal, a challenge, or even a bit of sportsmanship — that, for you, captured the spirit of the Scottish amateur game today?
There were 2 injuries during the game where the ball was played out to allow treatment, in one instance the ball wasn’t returned directly but after a couple of chosen words between both teams the ball was then punted injured players goalkeeper. That’s Scottish football for you!!

Both teams were technically good and played free flowing football thus making it a joy to referee however the goal the Rhu striker scored top bins stood out as goal of the game.

How would you describe the overall feel of the match — fiery, respectful, end-to-end, or something else?
This is the kind of match all referees love to take charge of, both teams playing flowing football which was end to end with chances and goals galore. Both teams were more interested in playing football than questioning ever decision made by the referee.
Overall, how do you look back on this game from the referee’s perspective?
Enjoyable, Competitive and both teams contributed to a great game.

At times a bit lively but a referee you must zone out of the noise from the sidelines to concentrate on the game at hand, it’s only when you hear a shout that pricks your antenna or persistent verbal’s from someone on the side that requires your intervention.
Funniest shout or comment you heard from the touchline?
Considering the officials on the sidelines I’m not sure that they could come up with a funny comment or retort in the 90 mins of the game!
Who gave you the bigger headache today — the ball, the players, or the sidelines?
Always the sidelines.
If you could hand out a “ref’s man of the match,” who would it be and why?
I don’t like doing MOM’s as they’re lots of good things done on the pitch by many players, I just to prefer saying that on this occasion both teams made the game a joy to referee.
